The Reverend Jerry Falwell will open a law school next week in hopes of training a generation of attorneys to take up conservative causes.
Falwell says the future lawyers will work to outlaw abortion, gay marriage and other issues that he believes the legal establishment has forced on the public.
Falwell says he hopes to produce highly skilled litigators who will "be as far to the right as Harvard is to left."
The law school -- part of Falwell's Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia -- will begin classes on Monday. Its first-year class of 61 students has already arrived for orientation.
The law school's dean, Bruce Green, says it will fuse the teachings of the Bible with the U-S Constitution, stressing the connections between faith, law and morality.
Regardless of your opinion of Jerry Falwell, opening the law school at Liberty is a good move. More power to him, get more conservative lawyers on the street!
You are right. I detest Jerry Falwell, but the idea of an anti-Harvard Law is great.
Ah yes, I neglected to mention the anti-Harvard aspect. That caught my eye, as well.
Ave Maria Law School is another one - created by the pizza guy.
This is great news for conservatives.
The guy from Domino's maybe? I think they are in Chicago?
Doesn't Hillsdale College also have a law school?
It's in Ann Arbor, sames neighborhood as Domino's corporate. The Ave Maria undergrad school is in Immokalee, Florida.
Pat Robertson's Regent University also has a law school.
