Also, if you end up under water and when you pop out all the boats around you are rockin' and rollin', you would think you were receiving fire from shore. I can understand his mistake.
This is what Odell said yesterday. He thinks Rassman heard the friendly fire. He also pointed out the unbelievable reference to "hostile fire from both sides of the river for 3 miles"
And if Rassman was in and under the water and hiding from the enemy fire, why on God's earth would he WANT TO BE RESCUED? Wouldn't he have been safer diving under the water where the hostile fire couldn't harm him? If what Rassman said was true, then he was a lot safer in the water than he would have been on the boat. Kerry would have been pulling him out of the frying pan and into the fire.
The only believable scenario is that there was absolutely no enemy fire going on when Kerry fished Rassman out of the water.
Is Kerry admitting that he raced his boat 3 miles down river? That is a heck of a long way on a river. That is a heck of a long way to run from your wounded comrades. And Kerry got a bronze star for his bravery?
