The bottom line of what was said - Kerry's words, in his own voice, from his Senate Testimony in what? 71? When he talked about atrocities they had all committed, is interspirsed with P.O.W.s talking about how his words were used against them, to get them to admit to war crimes by the NVA...

The jist was "He gave them for free, what we were tortured to get us to say..." (paraphrase) and basically "He wasn't loyal to us then, why should we be loyal to him now?"

Oh. My.

That might be the deadliest political ad since LBJ teed off on Goldwater. It's brutal, and absolutely unanswerable. Nobody can claim it's deceptive or dishonest. How do you come back at something like this? I'm stunned.

I'm a staunch Bush supporter, but I gotta say...after seeing this ad, I genuinely feel sorry for Kerry. I don't mean his candidacy is doomed; probably not. I just think of the humiliation that such an ad would lay on a person, and the fact that he can't really say much in response, except maybe to splutter about GOP dirty tricks. In his heart of hearts, he's gotta know that he's been well and truly nailed, and he's got to look in a mirror for the rest of his life and think about what these brave men think of him. The shame of it, for most people, would be agonizing. I don't think I could face my friends or family if such things were said about me--and they were true.

I just showed this ad to my law partner who is a Lt. Col. in the Army reserves (30 years service) and it literally brought tears to her eyes. And this is one tough cookie. She asked me to e-mail her the link so she could send it to all of her service and veteren friends. God Bless the Swift Boat Vets.

I just read your comment. On My God .... this has gone in a hyper nova.

LOL. No way will McCain attack Kerry. The best response we could hope for is no comment, but McCain can't keep his trap closed if a camera or microphone is nearby. It wouldn't surprise me if Kerry contacts McCain and asks him for more support re the new ad.

John Kerry must never ever make it to the white house and be commander and chief. It would be the most insane and horendous injustice ever perpetrated against all veterans and everyone that puts on the uniform. How could the people of his state ever elect him to any public office?

Yesterday Kerry came out swinging "Bring It On!' said he. Problem was NO ONE showed up on the night shows. And Scarborough said the Kerry Campaign told them "in no uncertain terms" they will not be available. Not even Hurley.

Yesterday the accusation was that the Swift Vets were a front for Bush. A thinly veiled attempt to state (untruthfully) Bush is violating CFR.

Today we have the NYT hit piece. Now the big news is that the ad agency is the same that did the ads against McCain?

Yesterday had nothing to do with fighting back..No siree. It was nothing more than an attempt to launch a pre-emptive strike. Someone knew more shit was going to hit the fan.

They need to come up with a response for the Bob Perry donations.

Such as Bob Perry is free to donate to any 527 according to the new CFR laws. He believes in our cause. He, like we, feels that John Kerry is unfit for command. Apparently George Soros, who isn't even an American by birth, can contribute but the media isn't smearing him, are they?

It's devastating, imho. I hope every Viet Nam Veteran out there gets to see this... I personally believe they NEED to see it.

This old wound has needed healing for 30 years. It's time.

re: McCain

Isn't there a quote somewhere from McC where he says Kerry's words were used against him and his fellow POWs as well? I seem to recall this, but can't be sure. I know some enterprising FReeper has this saved somewhere. We may need to remind the MSM, in the event McCain goes the "no comment" route.

Kerry's Senate record and actions upon his return from Vietnam are one in the same. He never changed, just became more sophisticated in his ability to undermine this country and that is the real issue here.

It will be interesting to see how the Sunday Morning Talking Head shows handle this.

They may try to ignore it, but they don't dare.
