On that one, no. J fing Heinz was NOT brought up a child of privilege (thus his seething hate for those who were). He married into money, twice. This does not contradict my prior statement. He divorced the 1st wife because she wasn't rich or influential enough. So he married Tereza by convincing her he could give her the one thing she wanted and her money could not buy -- political power.
I believe there were people of integrity who opposed the Viet Nam war. But there is no integrity in going to war, coming back as an anti-war junior politico and betraying your comrades by lying about their conduct of the war, and then, years later, running as an alleged war hero. War hero? I say war zero!
I don't think Tony McPeak's statements are relevant because he wasn't "in the boat".
Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry (news - web sites), left, and William B. Rood, right, are shown in this undated photo at the Swift boat base at An Thoi shortly after the action for which Kerry was awarded the Silver Star and Rood was awarded the Bronze Star in early 1969 during his service in Vietnam. Both men are holding weapons captured in the mission. Rood, a night city editor with the Chicago Tribune, who served with Kerry during the Vietnam War as the commander of a Navy swift boat on the 1969 mission ischallenging the attacks on Kerry's account of the incident.
