The borders are wide open and thousands of illegal aliens from Mexico and the Middle East are streaming in.
Border control IS a National Security issue, regardless whether or not it hurts the feelings of GOP hacks and other keepers of the status quo.

It isn't likely that John Kerry is going to follow through on any "effective" changes to border patrol. He is more likely to make a show of doing something about it, like throwing more money at it.
I think Bush is moving too slow on this, but he always seems to have a plan of some sort, and if he is taking it slow, it must mean that they are studying the problem to find the most effective implementation for a tighter patrol policy that won't find itself caught up in the courts because the ACLU thinks it is inhumane.
