WASHINGTON (AP) - John Kerry's Vietnam War service records run to multiple medal commendations and a notation of "conspicuous gallantry" in combat. President Bush's file tracks the stateside career of a National Guard test pilot. Yet the combat veteran is the one under attack as a wartime pretender in the race for the White House.

As the old saying goes, you can't fool all the people all the time but you can fool some of the people most of the time -- and in politics that's enough. Most folks base their opinions on just the headlines and don't bother to read the fine print. The Democrat media are experts at propaganda.
This "reporter" is PATHETIC. What about Bush's records is "inconclusive? Exactly WHAT military records exonerate Kerry? What evidence does this "reporter" have that links BUSH to the swift vets?
I'm getting to the point where I can't even read this AP trash anymore. It's an arm of the Propaganda Ministry that is pushing this country towards a civil war.
"-Yet the combat veteran is the one under attack as a wartime pretender in the race for the White House.-"
The only reason this thing is still news is because of Kerry's refusal to release his records and prove his case. If he has nothing to hide, then why is he hiding the very evidence that could refute the charges?
The AP never tries to look fair. Where did you get that idea? They are among the most hardheaded true believers and crapweasels.
Hits all the DNC talking points without shame.
Notably only mentions the ads. Reporter should be advised to read the book.
Release Kerry's records. They should straighten out who's telling the truth.
Democrats concede privately the Massachusetts senator has been slow to recognize the damage being done to his political standing by the attacks by a group of men who hold Kerry's post-combat anti-war activities in contempt.
So far, though, the president's critics haven't elevated it as a campaign issue, preferring to stress domestic concerns such as the economy, health care and education. How many protest signs have you ever seen that had these words on them? How about "Bush Lied!"
Kerry says "bring it on". The guys that were there ARE bringing it on. They're calling you out sissy boy, and you goose is cooked.
Nice to see a news guy admit it.
He's banking on the hope that the media will fall for his "records posted on my website" deflection, as suggested in his counter-swiftie TV ad. All the records aren't there. For me the most telling is the absence of December 1968 reports (the cambodia caper). Someone suggested that "unfit for command" might literally be stated therein.
If its false, they should have found a way to kill it. As it is still alive, it is pretty clearly True -- but the media is flagrantly trying to withhold the truth from the American people during an election cycle.
I've been disgusted with the press for a long, long time. But I'm starting to think they are exceeding the low points they reached in shielding Clinton. Though I do think the public is catching on to the game.
How can he write this? What universe has this reporter been living in for the past year?
That's because the new swifties ad is like a body blow to the gut every time they see it. Even I can feel the impact so you can imagine what it feels like to the kerry coolaid drinkers crowd.
I once saw an interview with Henry Kissinger in which he responded to a question from the interviewer, "What will be the cause of World War III?". Without hesitating, Kissinger said, "The media".
That's not entirely true. They never tried to be fair, but they used to try to look fair. It used to be subtle. This is all out - Lead Paragraph - "Why is the hero's war record under scrutiny when the pretender's isn't?"
The current CIC has been a wartime President since 911 and done a damn fine job of protecting us. A fraud who filmed re-enactments of his Viet Nam adventures for cynical future use does not have the qualifications this country needs in a time of war.
