Right, and if Clinton were to show up they'd swoon again!
Here's the e-mail I sent Sports@MSNBC.com :
I see Jim Lampley has gotten older, but no wiser. Whether the advice to President Bush (on a RUMORED trip to Athens) was penned by Lampley or simply vomited up by him, it reeked. NBC should put more effort into obtaining effective graphics, a greater variety of events and fewer openly anal anchormen. If the leader of the free world needs your advice, I'm sure he's got your number. Thanks to Lampley, we all do.
If not it would be the dumbest thing GW has ever done. Such a trip would be very dicey given the terror alert situation today. There would also be the possibility of euroweinnie demonstrations against Bush. If the trip were make and went off reasonabaly well the dems would critize it as a political stunt. I am a big Bush fan and I would think also that such a trip and the cost to the taxpayers would not be worth it.
I just noticed that Drudge is reporting that NBC has pompously declared that Bush is, "not welcome" to go to the Olympics - an event that he is not even going to. As I predicted, Drudge has allowed himself to be used in this disinformation campaign to start a media story, followed by media hype, followed by media spin without a word of confirmation on whether there is a story to start with. It's a pure media creation that is maintained, disputed and argued over only in the media and woven out of thin air only to manufacture controversy and damage Bush.
Having said all that, the Bush people are to be blamed for not seeing this set up and not issuing an immediate denial the minute the first story appeared on Drudge.
Well it may be that Bush did consider going, but then again your theory of it all being a lefty set-up still sounds plausible. It also could have been a Bush trial balloon to gauge reaction, which has not been good, predictably. Funny how NBC ran with this Drudge rumor but won't get near any of his reports that make Kerry look bad. They'll wait for days and say they need "verification". A-holes! I agree Drudge is a dupe in this, as usual. It's a role he happily plays since it keeps him in the spotlight.
"Not if has been in the making months ago"
Hmmm. Good point!
And this time instead of wearing a flight suit he will be outfitted in a toga, jock strap and jandals, with a garland on his head.
All hail the chief.
Can you imagine Kerry in a toga? The space shuttle outfit was bad enough.Ha.
On Sunday's Olympic coverage on NBC Jim Lampley told the TV audience what Drudge was reporting. Lampley then proceeded to tell the audience 1)that such a visit would overly tax the security at the games 2)that the Greek people love and are very kind to American citizens but that 3)they are dead set against the War in Iraq and greatly dislike Bush. In light of the foregoing Bush should cancel his trip if he were indeed planning one.
It seems to me that these are political remarks which have no place on the Olympic coverage. I also wonder when was the last time that NBC used Drudge as a prime source for a news story.
From Crawford live, today he was
asked point-blank, "Are you going
to Athens?"
Bush: "Athens, Texas?"(town SE of
Dallas)
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!
"I'm asking if you're going to
the Olympics."
Bush: "No".

I'm personally glad he's not going for many reasons. I'd like to see him go to Afghanistan however. It would give a boost to the troops.
Is Kerry going to participate in some of the events? What a man!!!

SECRET PLANS IN THE WORKS TO FLY TO ATHENS IN COACH CLASS ABOARD AMERICAN AIRLINES FLIGHT 637 WHICH DEPARTS KENNEDY AIRPORT AT 8:13PM ON RUNWAY 30WEST AND TO ARRIVE IN ATHENS UNDER THE CLOAK OF DARKNESS IN TIME FOR SUPPER TOMORROW NIGHT!!!
BUT, IT'S A SECRET! DON'T TELL ANY TERRORISTS OR ANYTHING!!!....
Screw the ungrateful Iraqi soccer team. If Bush does go to the Olympics he should attend an event with American athletes competing for gold.
This guy deserved Saddam as a leader. I wish we would pull our troops out and let them all kill each other off.
Drudge's next "scoop" will have Bush going to Paris. lol
