"Vanessa, could you give us an example of a critical decision your father has made?"

All these decades in public service and they have to ask his daughters for this.

Now they're asking Alexandra the same thing. And she's not giving an example.

Now after stammering Alexandra remembers him making up his mind about something during shooting of a documentary.

If you want to show her an example of a *negative* ad, she should see the "dragging death" ad from the 2000 campaign.

"Turnpike" is a historic name; many so-called turnpikes no larger charge tolls. An example in Northern Virginia: Little River Turnpike (Route 236) is a major commuter road running from Alexandria to Fairfax City. It is much like any other such road, mostly four lanes, divided, lots of stop lights, jammed at rush hour, and NO TOLLS.

The first US turnpike WAS in Pennsylvania - but it's not what we today call the Pennsylvania Turnpike. It's now called US Route 340, the highway from Philadelphia west to Lancaster. It was originally a farm-to-market road, bringing food from the limestone farm country on Pennsylvania to the big city.

Turnpikes were around earlier in Great Britain. Rioting in occurred 1735 and 1750 in which tollgates and houses were destroyed, mostly because people objected to paying tolls to travel. Despite this, turnpikes were a success. Between 1750 and 1800, the average time for a journey from London to Edinburgh was reduced from twelve to four days.

Where are the Kerry sons? What is the calculation for having girls defend oneself?

Definitely watch Steffie's show. O'Neill is magnificent, Podesta knows nothing except talking points and the exchange will cheer you up!

Newsweek features a pretty straightforward article on the Swift Vet kerfuffle.

This really grabs one's attention, though:

According to a poll taken by the University of Pennsylvania's Annenberg Center, more than half the people surveyed had seen or heard about the ad, and about half of independent voters found the ad to be believable.
They could have added: "...all with no coverage from the mainstream media".

Isn't that amazing?! At a time when the media had a virtual blackout on the Swift Vets' charges, 50%+ of poll respondents had seen or heard of the ad. That must have been a kick to the head at Annenberg, CNN, the NY Times, et al.

Steffie has Podesta defending Kerry.

So, was Podesta a crewmate of Kerry's, on Kerry's boat, or even a part of the Swift Boat fleet?

Kerry/Dems must be desperate to dredge up old Clintonistas to defend Kerry. Where are the crewmates of Kerry's? Why aren't they out on the talkshow defending Kerry (as O'Neill is out contradicting Kerry)?

I think Russert is old enough to remember VN, as well as Kerry's testimony before Congress in 1971. I plan to email him about the very issues you raise; esp how Kerry's testimony destroyed Americans faith in the military. Kerry is a traitor.

I agree with you. It took the US military more than a decade to recover its reputation and image. As a former naval officer and Vietnam vet, I was stationed in Washington 1970-2 during Kerry's antiwar activities. I detested him then and even more now. I was unaware how he achieved his military awards. As painful as Vietnam may be to some, the American public under 45 needs to know how this man betrayed his country.

I do believe that the whole affair regarding VN has been cathartic for our VN veterans and American citizens who lived during that era. I know it has been for me.

Cathartic maybe. I think it more a sense of closure. Now Kerry must apologize to his comrades in arms or suffer the consequences not just in this election but for the rest of his life.

It is finally the revenge of the patriots! And a serious healing for the vets

Oh yes. And this is just TERRIFIC!

It has been healing for many veterans.

I now understand how I was misled as a youth, as well, and will never forgive Walter Cronkite, most especially john kerry, and his entire band of brothers back then, the HIPPIES, many of whom had not even SERVED in our military, who DESTROYED the will of the American people.

How often have we heard, lately, who REALLY began the Vietnam War, anyway? It just gets a little crazy, doesn;t it?

Kerry blaming Nixon regarding his Cambodia exploits in his 'seared' memories ....oh geez...then we discover that Nixon was NOT EVEN PRESIDENT that Christman....then we discover that NO it was NOT December, but JANUARY that this lying coward who trashed his nation and military, was in Cambodia.

The stench is so in your face you can almost touch it.

The picutures alone, associated with this book and his trek back Stateside, will do immeasurable damage if they take front and center stage. And it looks like they might, based on the Swiftees new ad.

Flooding the public consciousness with these pictures is the PR equivalent of his drawing and quartering.

I don't know why, but my analogies concerning this issue always involve serious physical distress.

John O'Neill sure has taken on a heavy load. I just finished watching him with Steffi, and he looks exhausted.

I am thinking that Steffi is still working for the Clintons, he sure didn't let Podesta rule the interview for Kerry.

Repeating my earlier posts, George was mostly fair on This Week, ABC, with John O'Neill. O'Neill left Podesta in his dust. This was amazing. There was very little crosstalk and viewers had a chance to hear the truth.

This one segment might prove to be the key moment in this election cycle. It was that good.
