Brit, Cici, Krystal, Juan on Chris Wallace FOXNews show

Ceci agrees with Brit, Kerry now has a disputed war record, because of the Swiftboat ad

Kristol says Wash Post points out Kerry has NOT made all his records available.

Juan says Swifties account of events change from day to day, "they are lying". "This is a political hit piece. These people are being taken advantage of...."

Ceci agrees, "yes, Cambodia is problematic...but put Cambodia aside". And then, unlike emotional, uninformed, Koolaid drinking Juan, Ceci makes some very good points against the Swifties. She's done her homework.

Chris Wallace factoid: Ronald Reagan took 97% of the Electoral college vote against Mondale.

(lots of commercials, thankfully Bob and his woodie didn't appear on a Sunday morning!) Back to business:
Dang! Ceci's fine arguments go unresponded too. Chris changes the subject. I hate when that happens!!

Brit points out Kerry's flip flopping on South Korea troop pull-out.

Ceci says the danger for the Bush campaign is the discussion will switch to Bush's national guard. Brit interrupts to say Bush has never made it part of his campaign.

Kristol thinks the dispute will go on longer because of the 2nd Swiftboat ad, which is Kerry's own public testimony.

Juan is just an idiot, can't keep his calm, repeats the charge "this is a Bush attack, a political rant and smear."

Kristol just shakes his head at Juan's blind obstinence.

Kristol makes this case in a nutshell. Kerry's anti-war protest should not have included the vets themselves. One thing to disagree with official policy, but not against the vets

Kerry spoke of creating a "time bomb" etc. I knew some VVAW's personally and what Kerry meant was that returning vets would become a paramilitary force on American soil. It was a threat, and many in VVAW believed that civil war was coming.

I agree with you. The anti-military Dems had no idea what the real feelings are of the 5 million Vietnam vets and their families. Kerry and his advisors have truly opened Pandora's box. It is finally the revenge of the patriots! And a serious healing for the vets.

As a Viet Nam vet I have to agree with your post. I mentioned at a men's prayer meeting yesterday that I thought this could be the time (3 decades late) when the healing could begin.

Schieffer acknowledges that Bush spent enough time in the NG to learn to fly a jet plane. Out of context that sounds nasty but he was being as fair as we can expect, and in the context of his remarks it was complimentary. Implication being, flying jet planes isn't easy.

I believe the Swifties have their entire campaign blitz well planned out. O'Neill took the first ad, O'Dell has the second. But yes, I agree with you, O'Neill needs a rest . He's been everywhere, even had a great interview in a London Telegraph article, I read it late last night.

Perhaps you are right about my word "cathartic". I say this because now I am angry that he lied to us about the "atrocities". Before, when he testified, I felt ashamed.

In retrospect, however, I am glad that Kerry brought up the VN War.

Fox News is not on yet in the San Diego area, but nice to see that Juan is still dumber than the rocks in my yard. This thread is a great service to me, as I can now decide whether to watch later.

Stephie now asking the Bush "Are Americans better off than they were 4 years ago?".

I've been disatisfied with the Bushies' answer to that question. Shouldn't they say something like: The real question is whether, in light of the 9/11 attacks, the burst of the internet bubble, corporate scandals and a recession---both of which he inherited---are Americans better off because of George W. Bush's leadership as president and commander in chief? And the answer to that would be a resound YES. Then go into the particulars.

How often have we heard, lately, who REALLY began the Vietnam War, anyway? It just gets a little crazy, doesn;t it?
I have been waiting patiently and this seems to be the most opportune moment:
Is there any truth to the following statement?
At the end of WWII as Europe begin to give up colonies in Asia and Africa, Ho Chi Minh approached America for assistance in removing the French from French Indo-China (Vietnam). The Americans refused because of alliances with the French. When America refused, he went to the Soviets who did so, gladly.
Now, is that a "Liberal" myth or is it basically correct?

Oh yeah. O'Neill even got the last word.

Georgie played both SBVT ads in their entirety without anyone talking over them.

No matter what Podesta said, O'Neill countered with the truth, and won EVERY point, IMO.

It was great.

Viewers also get to see the key points of the ads.

It cannot be denied that the men speaking on the second ad were being tortured while Kohn Kerry was denouncing them before Congress.

All Kerry does is trot out his spinners, ie, Hurley, Podesta, Lanny Davis, etc., against a SBVT. I'd love to see an actual vet Kerry supporter up against O'Neil or O'Dell.

The Dems making an issue of Bush's record will backfire. They clearly have no strategy on how to win against the Swiftboat Vets. Good!

Hurley on FNS---Kerry was near, around, sort of close to Cambodia...

[Trouble is, Kerry used his 'in Cambodia' to decry Nixon for sending troops secretly into Cambodia. If the 'in' becomes 'near' then Kerry's whole reason for the Christmas in Cambodia becomes a lie. Then, Kerry tries the 'working for the CIA' story. So, what happens to all the nearly 50 times Kerry has retold the C in C story during the last 35 years? No matter how they spin the C in C, it comes up that part of the story is a lie.]
