Mandy Moore Fumes at Being Declared Republican
IMDb.com ^ | 8-24-04

Posted on 08/24/2004 12:14:50 PM PDT by Paul Atreides

Singer and actress Mandy Moore is furious at being "outed" as a secret Republican in the new issue of America's Details magazine. The publication's upcoming September edition lists Adam Sandler, Freddie Prinze Jr., Jessica Simpson, Shannen Doherty and Moore as silent supporters of current US President George W. Bush who don't join the campaign trail and make their political views known, unlike loud and proud Democrats Ben Affleck and Barbra Streisand. However, the A Walk To Remember beauty has angrily denied she supports Bush and his party. Her publicist tells American website Pagesix.Com, "Mandy is not, nor has she ever been, a Republican."

I don't think so. I've heard him be very critical of Bush and the Iraq war on either Letterman or Conan... forget which. He has however been supportive of the troops in the past, but I'm not sure if that remains the case. He is also very pro-Israel.

Saved is disappointing. A Walk To Remember is an excellent movie though. After that movie I was intrigued by and spent some time at her website where she often posts and she said she was a Gore supporter.

Also disappointing, but she is very nice according everyone who's ever met her or worked with her, so there's hope...

Oh, and she is not related to Michael Moore.

Why would anyone think that someone who played in the Christian bashing movie, "Saved" would be a Republican?

You have to be a Christian to be a Republican? When did they start putting that on the membership application?

Never said that. But since you ask, 2/3 of people who claim to be Republican claim to go to church at least once a week and an even higher percentage claim be Christian. OTOH, 2/3 of the people who claim to be DemocRats profess to attend church rarely or never.

From a Google search:

"Mandy Moore also used to date tennis ace, Andy Roddick. Andy broke up with Mandy in March 2004 cuz he couldn't handle her Hollywood lifestyle." Translation: Mandy's a slut.

2 other tennis stars tried dating actresses. It never seems to work. Hollywood destroys people.

I always had a thing for Shannen Doherty.

The whole story of the fall of "Brenda Walsh" is a fascinating episode in the convergence between entertainment and the Internet. You see, "Beverly Hills, 90210" was the first TV series in which the fans, via the Internet, were a real pressure group. Now, we take it for granted but then it was the very first. And the fan base was passionately loyal, almost obsessed.

Shannen didn't realize that the rules had changed. She alienated the fans. They turned against her online. It got as vicious as, practically, an online gang rape. Rumors of discord between Shannen and practically every other cast member reached such a volume that there was no sense denying it.

The death rattle is when the writers start taking sides in backstage quarrels. On her final season, her earlier role of moral center long gone, her character was erratic, moody, going to extremes, alienated from the main plot lines, a general pain in the butt.

I take great pleasure in the fact that "Saved!" grossed under $10 million.

I will not forgive Mandy Moore for making a film so hostile to Christianity.

Forgiveness follows repentance.

And Christian does not mean chump.

Rumors of discord between Shannen and practically every other cast member reached such a volume that there was no sense denying it.

She was also dropped from "Charmed" after, IIRC, the second season, for similar reasons. And unlike BH90210, her character was so integral to the plot of the series that the producers must have had a *damned* good reason for booting her, because they had to go through contortions to write around her absence.

Short form: Her character and her two sisters were a trio of modern-day (good) witches, who could only exercise their full power when they joined together on a spell, and invoked "the power of three". After using "the power of three" in almost every episode, the firing of Doherty and the loss of her character would leave a gaping hole in the series -- but apparently they couldn't put up with her anymore and kicked her out anyway. So they had a show about the heroic death of Doherty's character, and then next season the writers bent over backwards to add a plot about the discovery of a "long lost half-sister" that the other sisters never knew about (played by Rose McGowen), and then had her join up as the necessary "third witch".

She must have been a *major* pain to work with, to be worth that much disruption in order to get rid of her.

A chump lets himself be used as a career steppingstone.

Mandy Moore played the Christian at the outset because it is not possible to outslut Britney Spears. She moved to acting because she did not make it as a singer. "A Walk to Remember" was marketing herself as the non-Britney.
