While your reasoning for your Jr. Senator's victory is suspect, to say the least, we'll all wait for your predicted "landside" in '06.
Then we'll be more than happy to attend to your griping.
I won't be satisfied until I see an article titled, "The 100 Ways Bush Screwed New York."
Tell me again why I, not a New Yorker, should pay for NY police. Obviously, New Yorkers don't want more police on their payroll.
LOL. Ya done good!
Have a fun day, Gramps. I'll watch the fort. LOL.
bump
Thanks! I will be out of here soon!
When the GOP controls the White House, it would help NY to vote in two GOP Senators. It is much easier for two GOP Senators to ask for a favor from the White House than two Democrat Senators who in the past lambasted GWB. If you can understand how things work on the Sopranos, this should not be hard for NYers to understand the next time they vote for a Senator.
ANYBODY that quotes left-wing, bed-wetting, kool-aid drinking, demoRAT water-carrying, anti-freedom maggot Congressman WIENER from The Peoples Republic of New York City is NOT to be listened to or believed, PERIOD.
Nothing to see here folks, move along...
Scourge
Could not agree with you more Dave.
I wouldn't even use that rag to replace my Sear Catalog at my "second" home in the woods.
Obviously you did not read my response to the author if you feel that I'm griping. And Guiliani would have beat Clinton in 2000 and he's more popular now. Like just about everywhere else, there is a percentage of idiots who like Clinton and a larger percentage who can't stand her. The problem was that Rick Lazio was not prepared to run for Senate at that time.
I think Mayor Blumberg still has some Democratic brain cells left in his right lobe.
I agree, NYC's finest and their brothers, the fire fighters should have gotten a raise three years ago.
You might get a terminal infection if you used the VV at your second home in the woods.
This could have all been avoided if we had simply elected Wayne Barrett as president.
The FIRST thing which should be funded by government is fire/police/security protection....that IS WHAT government is for....unfortunately, liberals have hijacked money away from them for their pet projects (i.e. midnight basketball, diversity training, etc.) and then DEMAND MORE money....you get whatever YOU elect in your own geographic location....AND, as someone else said, NY got LOTS of funding from everywhere.....the question is "how was that funding used?"
HHey, even if Bush paraded up Fifth Avenue with Osama bin Laden's head on a flagpole, New
Yorkers would still vote overwhelmingly for Kerry.
New York City, for all its virtues as a cultural and financial center, and as a tourist destination, is still the Capital of Kneejerk Leftism.
I didnt even read the whole diatribe, but on #1, we have a few data points:
2/3rds of Al Qaeda leadership taken out.
We have the 9/11 mastermind "Khalid Sheik Muhammed, in custody and the other plotter - name of Busmillah (sp?). And a mere 500 or so other al qaeda types.
So he is simply WRONG.
"There are actually 5,879 fewer city cops than in 2000, partly due to the nearly 90 percent Bush cuts in Bill Clinton's COPS programs. Even with the post-9-11 invention of homeland security funding, NYC is getting $61 million less in federal public-safety subsidies than it did before our cops became America's front line. Bush's 2005 budget proposes even more cuts. Though most conventioneers would prefer to forget it, George W. Bush has slashed the troop strength that host committee hero Rudy Giuliani put on duty."
I read the first paragraph and after taking a moment to stop laughing, I decided to answer.
Crime is down by over 40% in NY over the last four years. Times Square has been cleaned up and the city is once again flourishing after the tragic events of 9/11.
The cops are whining about how they need a raise. Sure, give them a raise. In exchange, the police should sit down with the city and suggest where it should make cuts in order for the cops to get a raise.
Clinton bloated the municipalities unions and expected the rest of the country to pay for it. If the city cannot afford it then they shouldn't have it. I will tell you how police can earn more money and save the city money in the process:
1. Give every cop a 25% pay raise starting on Monday.
2. On Monday the police will fund their own 401k.
3. The police will pay their own health insurance.
4. The police will have 1 month vacation, 5 sick days and 2 personal days.
5. There will be no carrying over of sick or vacation time. Use it or lose it.
6. If a police officer does well and hits his tests, promote him with pay. If he doesn't, fire him. Mediocrity cannot live in the police force. Leads to cops going bad due to lack of incentive.
This should be good enough for any muni union.
