I am not from the south, but have been through there, and they are the best Americans that can be found. This makes me feel like flying a confederate battle flag everywhere I go.

The civil war is finished, over, and both sides fought completely and totally for what they believed in. Even if one side was wrong in its views, I believe that we, as Americans, are not well served by reviving old antagonisms, either through "art" or action.
Today, America faces an external threat that must be dealt with by a committed and unified America... after all, there will only be time for bickering later if we win.
