Phildelphia is every bit as filthy as Cook County, and the current PA governor is a Philadelphia machine politician, so you can expect that Kerry will win PA, one way or the other.

The Democrats like to claim they won PA in 2000. A lot of us don't beleive it. Here's something from a John Fund column, it's representative:

"Philadelphia has a long reputation of fixing elections as a means of controlling patronage and municipal contracts. The Philadelphia Inquirer has noted that the city has just over one million registered voters. Since that's just about the number of eligible voters the U.S. census estimates live in the city, experts believe there are upward of 80,000 fraudulent registrations.

The source of this info is a Philadelphia Inquirer article. The Inquirer is one of the most left-wing papers in the country--consistently to the left of the NYT. If they admit to a problem, imagine how bad it really is.

Yes. Duplicate registration is just the tip of the iceberg in PA.

Philly had 900,000 votes cast out of a total population of 1,300,000 (according to 2000 census). That's a helluva turnout

The correct statement is that a high number of inner city (e.g., black) precincts nationwide had 100% turnout. These are precincts where the registration is virtually 100% Democratic and thus there is no balance in the staff running the polling stations. My guess is that the fraud was so rampant the poll workers weren't even trying to hide it. Even the most prosperous, God-fearing, responsible neighborhoods in America do not get above 90% turnout due to the fact that some people have busy lives.

"100% turnout" was not limited to precincts in Detroit and Philly. Miami, St Louis, Atlanta, all showed the same tendency.

What makes this all the more interesting is the situation in Florida, specifically Dade County (Miami). Remember the recounts? The Democrats wanted full recounts only in selected, heavily Democratic counties. Of all places, you would think that Dade would enthusiastically volunteer to be recounted. But they objected and petitioned the court that it was not possible. Why?

The reason is fraud. Imagine a bunch of yahoos merrily forging the signatures of those that didn't show up in the last few hours the polls are open. They are so brazen and giddy that they don't change the signature and even sign as "Santa Claus" or "George Bush." But the recount means that every ballot will be recounted and the signature books checked by outsiders. Now the precinct workers face jail, big time. So they decide that they would rather have Gore lose than enter the slammer. They refuse a recount that might "find" Gore more votes.
