Diana Kerry: "In defense of my brother John" (Kerry now hiding behind his sister's skirt - LOL!)
Boston Globe ^ | 8-28-04 | Diana Kerry

In defense of my brother John

August 28, 2004

MY BROTHER, John Kerry, decided to volunteer to put his life on the line to serve his country in Vietnam. A lot of guys dodged service, but not my brother John. As Bill Clinton pointed out not long ago, when push came to shove, a lot of young men found other alternatives, but not my brother John. He volunteered for service and he went to Vietnam, and by every official US Navy account, he acquitted himself heroically. I watched my brother put his life on the line in service to our country as so many sisters and brothers, parents, and other family members are doing today with loved ones in Iraq and Afghanistan and elsewhere. I am really mad that anyone dares question any soldier's service, particularly my brother's outstanding record in Vietnam.

Timed perfectly to the re-emergence of the "Bush was AWOL" story! Amazing how transparent they are...

"dares question"

?????

I thought the democrats were all about pushing the envelope of dissent? Thats the last place I thought I would hear someone talking about 'how dare you question ___________' ANYTHING. Because I thought it was their charter as uberpointy headed liberals to question EVERYTHING. Except of course, ANY soldiers service. And except if that persons initials begin with George W. Bush and then it's okay to question a soldiers service.

hypocricy must have been an ancient democrat

Of course you would say that, you are his brother and blind to his bad side that you don't want to see or even listen to. How can you refute so many credible servicemen coming out with the truth, this is the character of a man that's running for President we're talking about here. Sorry but I can’t blame these men, your brother made some pretty horrendous actuations about them when he came home, not Presidential material, sorry.

"I am really mad that anyone dares question any soldier's service..."

And I'm really really mad too, at this insult to my intelligence. Kerry's sister didn't write this letter, for heaven's sake! It's a joke to think she gives a rip about "any soldier", much less have the ability to list out Kerry's political talking points in boiler plate fashion.

Can anyone imagine George Bush using his sister in this cynical, self-serving way?

Since most of the Walter Mitty tales of Hanoi John’s heroism have been debunked, they now fall back on “He volunteered for service and he went to Vietnam…”
Volunteering was not always for altruistic reasons.
Hanoi John apparently voluntarily entered the Navy because he was refused another education deferment. He volunteered for Viet Nam duty so he could have a military record to use in his political future - but he volunteered for what was (at the time) the safest command position incountry.
Many men (like myself) volunteered for the draft. Many voluntarily enlisted. They didn’t necessarily do this because of Patriotism - although many did - but to remove themselves from a situation they didn’t like. I needed to get out of a very small town.
Many men (like myself) volunteered for Viet Nam. We all had our reasons, and many did so from a real sense of altruism and patriotism. I did it to avoid a General Court.

We now know that Kerry joined the U.S. Naval RESERVES on 18 February 1966, status "inactive". In the spring of 1966, he delivers antiwar oration at Yale. On 19 August 1966 he reports to officer candidate school in Newport, Rhode Island. On 16 December 1966, he is commissioned Ensign, status "active". Is the Naval Reserve similar to the National Guard, where you do your basic training and schooling, and then go on part time status? Is it possible that Kerry's unit was activated, or is this a normal transition?

Except for Academy graduates and certain honor graduates of ROTC programs, all officers are commissioned in the Reserves. So, for example, I joined the "active" Army (full of people who have no other job) but I was commissioned as an officer in the Army Reserve. I have never actually been a part of any Army Reserve unit.

Her last sentence reveals why John Kerry should not be president.

1. Political speech should be free.

2. Kerry raised the issue.

How dare she criticize the discussion of a political issue after John Kerry told us to discuss ("Bring it on"), John Edwards invited us to investigate ("just spend 3 minutes with the men who served with John Kerry"), and the Democrats made a central theme of their convention attempting to establish the qualifications of their candidate (squandered the moment he gave that dufus salute)?

The whole incident reveals the hypocrisy of John F. Kerry. It reveals that he does flip-flop or stated another way, he is an opportunist who stands for nothing except his own elitist self-image at the particular point in time he is talking.

John Kerry served in the military for that I give the respect his four months deserve. But if he makes it a basis for his qualifications to lead America (especially in a time of war) then I want to examine who he is a lot closer. Therefore his service, post-war conduct, post war fabrications, his career as a politician since the 1970s, all have bearing on his character and temperament to be President of the United States of America.

As John Kerry said to Teresa the other day:

If you can't stand the heat, get out of the sauna. And Lovie, could you have the Butler bring me another mint julep.

Tired of the lamestream media and the DemocRATS 'smear the messenger' campaign?

Get your own "EXPOSE KERRY'S FRAUD SWIFT BOAT VETERANS FOR TRUTH" STICKER!

I put this sticker on my truck the other day. I get lots of honks and 'thumbs up'!

The sticker serves 3 purposes:
1 - Shows visible support for "Swift Boat Veterans For Truth" to passing motorists, (encourages our side discourages the libs).
2 - Gets the swiftvets.com website visible to the public, so they can and find out more about 'Hanoi John' Kerry.
3 - Circumvents the lamestream media BIAS filter!

Made by fellow FReeper disabled vet who has a bone to pick with Kerry, like we all do!
Large (24" Wide 12" Tall) $20 (like mine above)
Small (12" Wide 6" Tall) $10
Profits go to SwiftVets.com

Ping your FRiends, let 'em know about this!

FReep mail / private reply for details on how you can get one for your vehicle!

I heard Greenfield, other Kerry spokesmen, and now Kerry's sister, use deaths in Iraq for political advantage. Kerry people threaten the warning that 1,000 American deaths in Iraq will spell doom for Bush. It's almost as if they can't wait for the magic number to arrive. They harp on the possibility to unsettle voters. Shame on these scoundrels!

Every death is a terrible loss, but enough already with the gloom and doom predictions Kerry people make, only to inflame voters.

We are in an uncomfortable position trying to justify the loss of even one American, but a little reality check is in order.

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Greater seat belt use and a drop in alcohol-related fatalities brought the number of U.S. highway deaths down in 2003 to 42,643."

In one year, 42,643 people died in automobile accidents in America. Less than 1,000 have died in Iraq. A little perspective, a little less ghoulish wishful thinking on the part of Democrats, should be called for by the media.

(Thank you MB for charging up my brain on this one.)

Please have him SIGN STANDARD FORM 180 so we can see all his honorable war records.

In that way he can prove the Swift Boat Vets are not worth our attention. Then we can get back to the campaign.
