Well, that's just a great idea. But I spent over a minute thinking about it, and have come up with the real solution - smartly decouple the length of a day from that old school "one planet turn" thing. My day lengths would continueally adjust with the amount of daylight (longer in the summer, shorter in the winter). With existing watch/chip technology this could easily be iomplemented.
Once this decoupling is done, the skids are greased.
In fact, I would go one step farther and institute "global time" - whereby it's 10:10:10 everywhere in the world at the same time.
I will be submitting my solution to the U.N. tomorrow for humble consideration. One person can make a difference (and in this case, just in time).
Good one.
We should probably try to look for some Universal constant, not something restricted to our local solar system.
Act Globally, think Universally. Scientists have already considered this. Interstellar communications have been tied to the oscillations of atoms, just like the atomic clocks.
We've already got Coordinated Universal Time, used by the military and amateur radio operators and other people. It's one time, wherever one is on the Earth.
