Matt Drudge is running the headline

DEM DASCHLE SEEKS BUSH BOOST; AD FEATURES 'HUG'

It contains the following graphic:

HOWEVER....

If you search Google for the words in the headline, no references to this article appear on the internet.

It's hard to imagine that no one ever posted this article to the internet... but of course it's entirely possible.

If any of The Blogspirators readers have access to Lexis/Nexis... please look up this headline.

Drudge also reports...

While Democrat party officials of all stripes decend on New York City to blast the president, Daschle has quietly purchased air time in his home state for the minute-long campaign commerical -- a commerical insiders have dubbed: "Bush Hug."

Does this article even exist, or did Tom Daschle make up the headline, like his other hug-buddy Michael Moore?

As Drudge would say:

DEVELOPING.....

UPDATE:

dmartin on FreeRepublic.com did a Lexis/Nexis search.

Lexis/Nexis shows a news article from the CBS MarketWarch website - this headline was never published in a newspaper, as the ad represents!

Lexis/Nexis citation follows:

CBS MarketWatch

March 20, 2003 Thursday

LENGTH: 70 words

HEADLINE: Daschle: Time to unite behind troops, Bush

BYLINE: Rex Nutting

BODY:
Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle said Thursday it is now time to unite behind President Bush and support U.S. troops fighting in Iraq. "We may have had differences of opinion about what brought us to this point, but the president is the commander in chief and today, we unite behind him." Daschle continued, "Saddam Hussein is a menace to his own people, and a threat to the peace and stability of the entire region."

Tommy Dasshole must be getting desperate.

Hope Thune cleans his clock. How's he doing in the polls?

Dashle really having a "wet pants" day! Checking out retirement condos. Maybe he can find the same island with McGreevey, Gephardt, et al.

Could an endorsement of Bush be far behind? I seriously doubt it, but an interesting thought.

I think we should ask Dashole's wife about the KC-767.

Daschle isn't the first to do this. Michael Moore perfected this tactic.

Carl, do you have Nexis-Lexis? Can you verify the Google search for this headline through there?

I'm a Wisconsinite, but we spent last week out in SD. We saw and heard ads for both Daschle and Thune, including the one referenced in this posting. Thune looks like a natural-born leader and Daschle looks like a slimy politician. I can't beleive S. Dakotans keep re-electing this well, icky man.

Whoa...Tommy....

Trying a 'makeover' just in time to persuade S Dakota voters....to vote for him because....

He is more like a Republican than you thought he was?........

In his desperation to hold onto power at any cost....he will say anthing...do anything....grasping at any branch....

Desperately seeking office....
