Note - Please do not show this to any member of the neocommunist, ultra left wing media. I'd hate to hand them a shot at the Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting when, I know, they in their legions are about to investigate and write about women not being involved with the Masters Golf Tournament in Georgia.

Kerry is a fraud, no matter how you shake it, I don't understand how a man can run for Commander-in-chief and NOT release his military records when questions arise. when getting a job in the defense industry, you must sign form 180...now if a job in the defense industry is that important as to make you sign the 180, i think running for president is a little more important

If the Maddox was in Viet Nam Does a bear do it in the Woods? Maddox, along with "Turner Joy", was one of the ships involved in the so called "Gulf of Tonkin" incident in August of '64, which signaled the beginning of the "American Phase" of the Vietnam war. Maddox actually was attacked on 2 Aug, while on 3 Aug in company with Turner Joy, an attack was "detected" on radar, but subsequent events have indicated that there were no NV boats present at the time.
During 1965-1968, Maddox served three more times in the Far East, doing her part to support the Vietnam War effort and other U.S. interests in the region.
However she doesn't appear from her DANFS entry to have been in Vietnamese waters during the time Kerry was there, either on the destroyer or on the Swifts.

Can anyone tell me what the real story of the Kerry enlistment and subsequesnt commission in the Navy was? I'm trying to understand if Kerry sought active duty or if he was actually signing up for the reserves.
Much has been made of GWB going for the ANG instead of active duty. Was Kerry trying to avoid the draft, as they accuse Bush of, by enlisting in the Navy Reserves? Input or links appreciated.

1. In Kerrys Report On The Fitness of Officers, signed 18 Dec 1969, the reviewing officer, G. M. Elliot said, He has of his own volition learned the Vietnamese language and is instrumental in the successful Vietnamese training program. It isnt know whether this is a fact that Kerry told Elliot or something Elliot observed.
Or maybe Elliot thought the Vietnamese language was French?

The one thing that strikes me the most about JFK military record is the lack of logical continuity presented. I know from having to review my great uncles records and my dads records that regardless of the service involved you could end up accounting for every day of service, campaigns, citations, transfers, etc. And my great uncle was a 20 year Navy veteran(died at Coral Sea).
JfK no longer needs to fill in the gaps. He is toast. But in respect for those who have gone before him and those have served after him, he needs to do the honorable thing and release all the records.
