I had a crusty old JROTC Military Science instructor sargeant who was a bad influence on me in high school 8-)
One time when a bunch of us freshmen were in his class, one of the guys quipped up "When are you going to teach us how to shoot commies between the eyes?". Sarge calmly responded 'You never try to shoot the enemy between the eyes. You're supposed to shoot him in the belly. If you shoot him in the head, you'll kill him, and they'll use the body as one more thing to take cover behind.
'But if you shoot him in the belly, then you take him out of action, plus two guys to drag him off the battlefield, plus the guys to transport him to the field hospital, plus the people to care for him at the field hospital. And with his guts shot away, he's going to die anyway"
He had our attention for the rest of our high school days
