A quite large percentage identifies itself as "conservative." Rather larger than makes sense, in fact, given two recent terms for Clinton and a close election in 2000.
Against this, compare that only a small percentage of the country identifies itself as "liberal," "communist," or "anarchist," whatever the numbers they manage to put into selected streets on big occasions every few years.
