Listening to Kerry speech at AL convention live
9/1/04 | Self

Kerry on local radio at the American Legion convention in Nashville.

He starts off by buying John Glenn's support by promising him another trip into space.

Opening joke about him having a problem keeping his speech under 10 minutes falls absolutely flat.

Sorry

I'll watch my language

Now Kerry needs to also quit spouting profanities.

Absolutely terrible speech. Not well received! After he completed his remarks and went around to the people sitting behind him to shake hands, the only people that shook his hand were the folks in the first row. Scores of other folks just stared out to the audience and ignored this "Traitor" John Kerry! If I had given this speech, and I have given many in my day, I would have been mortified by the tepid response. This guy is toast, and I would suggest the Democrat Party neutralize him right now or the whole Party will go down in November.

Yes. He addressed those. He said he worked with John McCain on MIAs and personally wrote the Agent Orange legislation.

Well, anyone with sense would think that before a group of vets he would expand on that.

I think his handlers saw this as a big opportunity to talk beyond the local audience - and bombed.

One time , during the Kerry speech to the VA, the handful started clapping for something he said, and he paused to milk the clapping, and it just stopped, You could almost hear the air being sucked out of Kerry.

Smart move. Always have at least one cheap applause line.

"Nobody rocks like Springfield!"

"Psst, Homer. We're in Detroit."

"D'oh!"

Media manipulation -- same thing they are doing with the protestors at the RNC.

Yea, it was an almost mandantory recognition. What amazes me is that Kerry promises to do all these things if he is elected as if during his TWENTY YEARS in the US Senate he has never had the opportunity to introduce legislation to do any of it.

Monday morning quarterbacking About a war, in front of an organization whose members have fought in wars?

He didn't get much applause out of it. The Vets weren't too impressed with his claim that he would have secured Iraq's borders, gotten more translators to work on the "right" things, secured the museums, and had American troops fight in Tora Bora instead of Afghans.

He got some polite applause on the Tora Bora thing. Other than that, the silence was deafening.

This guy has lost it. He is a head case. I wonder what his continuing references to John McCain are all about. Does he think that being allied with John McCain is going to help? McCain has made it very clear where he stands, 1000% behind our leader GW Bush! John Kerry is living in a dream world! The Democrat Party leadership should move to replace him with Michael Moore or Jesse Jackson immediately!!!

Wasn't the whole issue of the "museums" being looted debunked. I thought the stuff was eventually found in a basement or mosque somewhere. The employees carted it off before troops entered.

You probably heard this, but 8 are dead-including parents trying to protect their children. The terrorists are promising to kill 50 children/one terrorist. One terrorist has been killed so pray. They have suicide belts and have wired the building with explosives. I hear some are wearing gas masks-probably to prevent the Soviets from using that gas that eneded the Moscow Theatre hostage situation. It looks real bad for those kids...they have as many as 100 kids and an un-named number of parents, teachers etc. held hostage (don't know or aren't telling exact number)..Time for Russia to reduce Chechnya to a pile of rubble.
