An acceptance speech is NOT where a president tells you how much whatever proposed will or won't cost.

Your gorge may have risen, but both your ears are tin, dear. You just think that you understand politics;you don't.This was THE best political convention I have EVER seen, from either party and it has NOTHING to do with prejudice either.I am VERY good at slamming people I like, when need be and praising those I hate ,when they deserve it.

I've been a political junkie since I was tiny child. This GOP Convention and the president's acceptance speech has been THE best I've seen/heard since 1952!

You are allowed to say what you think;however,to do so on a live thread, where 99% are whopping it up and having a GREAT time,is NOT the place to begin your banal caviling!

"An acceptance speech is NOT where a president tells you how much whatever proposed will or won't cost."

So it's too much to hope that the candidate will restrain himself from promising far more than he can possibly deliver?
Particularly when so many current issues are still unresolved?

Sorry, what I heard of the speech still disappointed and annoyed me, my true opinion and I am sticking to it.

I have been to several local and state conventions.
I do find them tedious, so much time spent glad-handing and so little on actually giving issues and viewpoints a fair hearing.

The level of shallow feel good clamor here has also become disappointing.

Not to worry, our party is becoming more and more managed from the top, so much more like the Dem's.
This has become very clear from the last three state convention I have attended.
We mere citizens will not be required to show up for anything but the voting soon enough.
I wonder if there will be any discernible difference in the parties at that time?

The frequency of "Hey, Arnie (Guiliani, Zell, etc) gave a single great speech, lets elect HIM in '08 leaves me questioning the sincerity of principle over party by numerous posters.
