SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - ... Nearly 3,700 Republicans from all 66 South Dakota counties - including former state lawmakers, business and civic leaders and others - publicly support his re-election bid, Daschle told reporters at a news conference. ...[snip]Among about 20 Republicans who joined Daschle at the news conference were former Tea mayor Earl Jacobsen and former state lawmakers Kay Jorgensen of Spearfish and Don Frankenfeld of Rapid City. I thought South Dakota was too far north and too cold and too cold a climate for Rinos.

"Daschle says 3,700 South Dakota Republicans on his side."

I just hope that that is all he has, then he will loose in a landslide in South Dakota.

The names of these people should be made known to
every Republican activist in the state. They should
be blacklisted from Republican events and offices
for the rest of their lives.

That is clearly not enough to win SoDak. It is a Republican state with a Dem Senator. He needs lots more to win.

I'm confused. I thought S.D. was leaning for Thune something like 55% to 45%. But 3700 people - well, isn't that already around 85% of the entire population of S.D.?

Would LOVE to see Zell visit & campaign for John Thune. Zell has the dirt on d'Asshole and plainly loathes the boy. Zell could really open some eyes in South Dakota.

Where did you get those numbers from? Thune has been consistently trailing in the polls (though not by much).

This is an obvious lie. There's only 3,500 people in the whole darn state!

"Thune has been consistently trailing in the polls (though not by much)."

Thune has been trailing slightly in independent polls (although none have been released recently), but a very recent GOP poll had Thune at 50% and Daschle at 48%. Until independent polls confirm that, we have to assume that Daschle is up by a bit, but the race is very much winnable for Thune. I will send John Thune a contribution next week, and hope that every FReeper who can joins me in supporting the man who can get rid of Tom Daschle once and for all.
