You know what's funny about this? Yea, like people don't like fiery speeches. So ridiculous. Notice the two articles about the backfire theory were from CNN and MSNBC.

Wishful thinking it is. Everyone I talked with today about the speach thought it was incredible and devastating to Kerry.

Doesn't matter if it could have. Bush's speech is now the overriding factor.
But Zell's speech didn't backfire. It brought out a lot of things forcefully. Sure, it was hard hitting and may have made some folks uncomfortable, but they now know things they didn't know about or may not have thought of.
