David Warren: Russian Schooling (TROP™ jihadis target the Ruskie motherland)
The Ottawa Citizen ^ | September 4, 2004 | David Warren

The sight of crying children, naked and covered with blood, running or being carried from a school through explosions and gunfire, has huge emotional power. But that power is directed by the people who, perhaps from malice or ignorance, write the captions. In this case, I think ignorance is most of the explanation. The Western media are presenting the pictures from the school in Beslan over the caption, "Chechnya". But Beslan is not in Chechnya, and the terrorists are not Chechens, either.

For some time now, Russia's president, Vladimir Putin, has been trying to tell the world that his Chechen problem is not that, but rather the same problem the Americans noticed on 9/11. In the unfolding events of Beslan, in North Ossetia, he has more proof. Half the terrorist corpses so far identified were Arabs, and the rest other international Jihadis, plus a few locally-recruited Ossetes. Moreover, it is unlikely the recent destruction of two Russian airliners, and the suicide bombing of a Moscow metro station, were done by Chechens.

Putin still hasn't decided what side he's on as long as he's building and supplying the fissile material for nuclear reactors in Iran.

That is wholly unacceptable.

Heck, the mass media has pretty much ignored the fact that a lot of those dead terrorists are ARABS. Good post, thanks.

[Putin] was surprisingly indiscreet, saying that those who don't support George W. Bush need their heads examined.

One foreign leader not supporting Kerry. I missed it when Dan Rather brought this up. Did you catch it?

The media intentionally ignored Putin's statement that he personally had warned President Bush that Saddam Hussein HAD weapons of mass destruction.

When they toast Moscow maybe he will decide then. Russian Ministries' director, Genady Terkun, reporting from outside the school grounds, said that many of the children were very excited about the beginning of school and happy because they had just returned from summer camps supported by Russian Ministies where they learned about Jesus.........The seizure of the school took place shortly after celebratory activities launching the beginning of a new schoolyear. Terkun joins the Totiev family in urging all Christians of the world to pray for the physical safety and spiritual strength of all the hostages and the families of 50 other Christian children trapped in the school.

Agreed. It does Putin no good to tell us the terrorists slamming Russia are Arabs while HE does business with terrorist regimes. I think Russia's economy CAN survive if Vlad stops sleeping with the dogs.

Kerry suffers from poor word usage. It's not foreign LEADERS who support him, it's foreign DICTATORS.
