Question: do you personally know if the Moscowhelp.org a legitimate organization for donations? I wouldn't want to give my money to organizations such as the Red Cross or United Way because I know what they do with most of the money: keep it for themselves.

Yes it's legit. It is the one posted by the Russian Embassy. I think that link is there too. At the least send a letter to the embassy. I know your fears, I have been to russia twice and I always question where my money goes.
