THE full horror of the Russian school atrocity began to emerge yesterday as traumatised children told horrific tales of stabbed babies and brutal rapes.
It has also emerged that scores of the 323 who died - including many children - had been shot in the back.
While despairing soldiers and rescue workers moved among the growing pile of body bags, it was revealed that an 18-month-old baby had been repeatedly stabbed by a black-clad terrorist who had run out of ammunition.
Other survivors told how screaming teenage girls were dragged into rooms adjoining the gymnasium where they were being held and raped by their Chechen captors who chillingly made a video film of their appalling exploits
They said children were forced to drink their own urine and eat the petals off the flowers they had brought their teachers after nearly three days without food or water in the stifling hot gym.
Their stories came as Russian officials warned that the final death toll of the siege of Middle School No 1 at Beslan in North Ossetia - in which up to 1,200 people were held captive - was likely to be more than 400.
The official toll yesterday stood at 323 which included 156 children, 10 Russian soldiers and two emergency service workers - 35 of the hostage-takers were also killed. Last night 434 people were being treated in hospital with 247 children and 85 adults in a critical condition.
A Russian official said six seriously injured children had been taken to Moscow for treatment.
"One of them is a child, just 18 months old, with many knife wounds," he said.

Question: Why can't the radicals here take power and drive out the good liberals? Kidding.... There's so much hatred and drama in the middle east that it seems impossible for a moderate to come to power. Do they even have hope of a benevolent King? I say it is about prosperity of the middle class and opportunities for the working poor. If they had something to actually lose, then maybe trhings would be different. I do think that when the "world" provides them with an enemy, all focus is off their corrupt and inhumane leaders.

Exactly! Thank you! I was so shocked at how much coverage went to a storm, and how little went to Russia's 9/11. Fox could have cut the Frances coverage down 2/3rds and it STILL would have been too much.
I think of the scum who conducted, sponsored, planned, encouraged, and kept secret the Beslan atrocity the same way I do an infestation of poisonous spiders or a deadly but curable disease. But we have people in this country who culture disease in their social laboratory experiments. They breed the spiders in our own government programs.
What about the men who wrote our 1956 and 1965 Immigration acts? What about the ones who today are lobbying in the legislatures of California, New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona to ignore illegal immigration? What about the leaders who are continuing to this day to encourage Islamic immigration? Didn't we hear recently about a large number of Chechens who were offered asylum here in America, for example? What about our congressional leaders who continue to receive Wahabbist lobby money, and bark and whine about Israel?
Americans are their own worst enemies. The other problems are simply issues we have created for ourselves or that we refuse to acknowledge. This problem is political in nature and I think can be solved politically. More than anything we need to get the fruits and vegetables out of our courts and out of our legislatures.
Californian senators, congresswomen, and legistlators are some of the worst. We just need to keep letting Americans know who is leaving the screen door open. If they want to keep their children safe from deadly spider bites, they need to think about who keeps his hand on the screen door. They voted for these coddlers and psychophants, these servants of evil who would deprive us of our second amendment rights while leaving the gates open for the barbarians to come in without so much as a Trojan horse!
I want to get to the root of the problem.
