PUTIN ADVISER: SCHOOL TERRORISTS GOT ORDERS FROM ABROAD (DURING BESLAN SIEGE)
Channel Two Russia/ Novosti Information Agency ^ | 9/6/04 21:23

Terrorists who siezed a school in North Ossetia Belsan, September 1 were recieving orders from abroad throughout the three suspense laden days, says Aslanbek Aslakhanov, President Vladimir Putin's adviser for North Caucasian affairs.

'The men had their conversations not within Russia but from other countries. They were led on a leash. Our self styled 'friends' having been working for several decades, I deem, to dismember Russia. They are doing a huge, really titanic job.' (here in Russia)

'It's as clear as daylight that those people are coming up as puppeteers and are financing terror,' he said to the Rossia television company, National Russian Channel 2 tonight.

Though the bandits named certain people they wanted to see as negotiators, and Mr. Aslakhanov was among them, he is sure that the terrorist gang did not mean to talk to whoever they contacted.

Aslanbek Aslakhanov, a Chechen, was on the site throught the tradegy and contacted the gang on the telephone.

'When I spoke Russian with them, I could not make out a word. Speak Russian!' they told me.

'Well, I did as they wished, though I speak Russian with a Caucasian accent, he said in his TV interview.

Please translate for me. This is one of his songs, right?
He is young and I read somewhere that his songs were apparently banned in Ingushetia.

This is very serious. I would declare martial law.
I's like the Frankenstien movie after the monster kills the little girl and everyone goes on the rampage with their pitchforks.

Is this Magomed Khadzhimuradov a kid who is a Chechen displaced to Inguishetia? (see link below) Just a thought---Could this tragedy be the Chechen version of Littleton? Did he perhaps attend this school in Beslan and get picked on because he was Chechen? Some of the dead are Muslims, so Muslims must still live there in spite of the ethic strife.

Also there is a singer by the same name. (you posted his song)http://eng.kavkaz.memo.ru/engnews/?srch_section1=engnews&srch_section2=engtopCulture

Is this singer the one who is supposedly the Polkovnik??

Is he a kid?

Sorry to get you stirred up.

Bi-2 is just a Russian rock band, and this is one of their older songs, which was in a movie called "Brat-2". But the song comes from a story by Gabriel Garcia Marquez - No one Writes the Colonel.

Just another obscure cultural reference for you.

Let's try to be very precise. This is very confusing.

No vague literary/pop-cult allusions without explanations!!!

Tell me about this terrorist named Polkovnik. I have a degree in Soviet Studies but it's not my profession. And I sure don't keep up with all the Caucasus feuds, the politics, the gangsters, the religious nuts.

I am stirred up! LOL. This stuff boils my blood. Thanks for explaining.

I need to sleep some and be back tomorrow, if you are both up for it.

Anyone interested in discussing chechen terrorism, links and info, please step up.

Snapple I don't know if he was a kid. Let's do more searching, if you are interested.

The Russians are really mad at some state that has been trying to dismember them for decades. That's not the US. We just want them to work it out however it suits everyone.

My vote is for Ukraine.

I overheard a very strange conversation in a suburban Washington restaurant the day the two Russian planes came down. It was between some American guy and a foreigner who spoke accented English. Both seemed like serious men to me, but the conversation seemed absurd. Still...

They were talking about the planes that came down in Russia. I was evesdropping but I thought possibly I heard this foreigner tell the American something about Ukraine in connection with this.It didn't make much sense.

Are the Russians reporting condolances from Ukraine? If not, look there. The Russians and Ukrainians have some real territorial disputes. Just a thought.

Hey, MarMema, have you seen all these Religion of Terror sympathizers and pseudo-Christian Trojan horses pop up recently on the FR to defend what was done to Russia. I swear, these pukes make me madder than the open terrorists!

Now the new cute chic thing is to claim to be Russian in their lame and plausibly-deniable defense of Islam.

Could the reference have been to a previous event? Recall the Sibir airliner inbound from Tel Aviv that was evidently brought down by a Ukrainian missile near The Crimea a year or two ago?

One news article did mention a Korean--I think.

You mean a North Korean?

WOW!! Remember the train that exploded BY A SCHOOL in N. Korea? A lot of kids died.

Some think that was sabotage. Supposedly a lot of Syrians and their weapons blew up.

Some think the target was the Dear Leader.

But the school getting blown up is the same. Hmmmm

Certainly it could have been an earlier event. I am ashamed to admit I started evesdropping because these guys were sort of interesting and I have a boring Walter Mitty life.

Still, this conversation was right after the two Russian planes were brought down. I assumed they were referring to that.

Don't want to spread false rumors however. I heard a few snatches of conversation--not a whole conversation. I could be all wrong.

Reading Putin's words, even though Pres. Bush used strong language in his 9-11 speeches as well ( rightly), leaves me feeling unsettled. Especially the references to decades-long attempts at destroying Russia by those who fear it's nuclear capabilities. I fear, as others have said, he may be obliquely referring to we in the U.S. I've never trusted Putin or his KGB compatriots, though I've hoped for the best. I have a rather cynical and wary suspicion as to how this entire thing may play out. Whoever did this to those children must pay and pay dearly, and I pray only the truly guilty ones do. I try to be an optimist, but it's hard in these dark and difficult times as I send my own children off to school and college. Tabor (lurker, long-time FR fan)
