The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that the number of welders will rise 17 percent to 457,000 from 2002 to 2012, while the number of automotive service technicians and mechanics will increase 12.5 percent to 1.2 million.
It also expects heating, air conditioning and refrigeration mechanics to see a 31.8 percent jump to 328,000 workers.
