John Hawkins: Now I've heard that you called George Bush an "empty suit," voted for Al Gore in 2000, and are giving all the money that your book,"Unfit For Command," makes to charity. Is all of that true?
John O'Neill: Most of it. I didnt actually call George Bush an empty suit. I had made private remarks critical of George Bush, but not that one that I remember. I am giving all the money to charity and I did vote for Al Gore in 2000 and I voted for Ross Perot twice before that.
John Hawkins: Also, if the election were between George Bush and John Edwards, who would you vote for?
John O'Neill: I said a year ago that I would have voted for John Edwards. To be candid, I wouldnt want to express what I would do today.
John Hawkins: I understand. After all the attacks he has made on you guys, you probably dont have as many warm and fuzzy feelings about him now.
John O'Neill: I probably wouldnt be as enthusiastic (laughs). Ill probably stay better informed in the future.
John Hawkins: I know there are more than 250 members of the Swift Boat Vets for Truth, but do you have any sort of breakdown of how many there are who served with Kerry in the field in Vietnam?
John O'Neill: Yes. Here are some of the statistics. John Kerrys primary service was in a little area called An Thoi, Coastal Division 11. At Coastal Division 11 there were 23 officers he served with by our count. 17 of the 23 belong to our organization that have condemned him as unfit. Four have supported him and two have taken no position. Theres a photograph that you can find on John Kerrys website.

Just terrific..
God bless John O'Neill and the SWIFTBOAT VETERANS FOR TRUTH!
FYI
People talk a lot about Edward's in 2008. I wonder if the negativity of this campaign may hurt him in that respect. Of course four years is a lifetime, but he seems to be rather free with his tounge.
Voting for Edwards wouldn't be too swift.
But in fairness, this John O'Neill and his colleagues are heroes, and his on-air demeanor is superb.
And their heroics didn't end in Viet Nam.
Looks like he's seen the light............
Read this...excellent interview with Swift Boat Veterans for Truth author of Unfit for Command.
Thanks, MEG33. Much appreciated.
It's strange that so many issues of importance over on your side of the pond, get such scant coverage on this side.
Always good to see both sides of the story.
You are welcome!
I seriously doubt Edwards will be in politics four years from now.
John Oneill must not have paid that much attention to politics if he voted for Gore in 2000...probably his long history as a Democrat that influenced that vote, plus, Bush wasn't exactly the most commanding candidate back then...I voted for Bush holding my nose. Then again, I would not have voted for Gore even at gunpoint...yikes what a looney!!!
But this election, I am happily voting for Bush, and I'll bet that Oneill will too. Bush has his faults but he is as good as it gets regarding the WOT, and that is the issue of import right now.
What Kerry did is even worse than deserting. That day he fled the scene, thereby putting the others in jeapordy, then abandoned his post, then deserted the theater. Because he left Nam under false pretenses, lies and fraud, it is no less an offense than desertion. What's amazing is he hasn't been court martialed... yet.
What he did in Vietnam I leave to the experts like the SBVT...What he did when he came home I despise him for.
He is UNFIT .
I agree, bush has faults, but these Fundamentalist lunatics are a serious threat, something that the Democrats sat and did nothing about for 8 years, which is why we are in this position today. It has to be taken care of Now. 4 more years will at least put us in a safer position. Hopefully take out at least one more big troublemaker, who has been fueling the fire for many years now.
Yes, that too. It's shocking going through all he VVAW activities, but it doesn't stop there. Then there is his POW betrayal, underhanded sneaky dealings with North Vietnam, China, the Contras, The list is endless it seems.
On one hand we have him campaigning about Jobs going overseas, yet he's the one who endorsed them going over to china!!
The Creator of Worlds directed me to this interview at Right Wing News. O'Neill comes off as credible as can be, doesn't he. How anybody can read this an consider voting for John F'n is beyond me. Maybe they just are all very careful to keep from reading such things.
An excellent interview. Recommend everyone read it.
Great interview..outstanding.
READ THE INTERVIEW, READ THE INTERVIEW, READ THE INTERVIEW!!
