FR Action Item: Spread the truth about Ben Barnes!
Posted on 09/08/2004 9:47:59 AM PDT by GOPcapitalist
Sharpstown Bank Scandal In 1971 Ended Barnes' Political Career. "The Sharpstown Scandal: This scandal involved quick-profit stock sales for lawmakers and state officials in 1971-72. Houston financier Frank Sharp arranged the stock loans from his Sharpstown State Bank, purportedly to grease the passage of two banking bills. Two dozen former and sitting officials were accused, and others suffered by association. House Speaker Gus Mutscher and another legislator were convicted of conspiring to accept a bribe. Gov. Preston Smith lost the governorship after his profit was disclosed. Half the Texas House was voted out of office or didn't seek re-election. And Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes, a rising political star, was caught in the housecleaning when he tried to win the governor's seat. LBJ had even predicted that Barnes would make it to the White House."
The more things change, the more they stay the same. I had always wondered what had happened to the worthless lying b@st@rd - Ben Barnes whose political career was "over" after the Sharpstown fiasco in the early 70's. I wonder what rocks Barnes has been hiding under since then? CBS is now trying to resuscitate old Ben's political career. See BS'er, Dan Rather is such a "noble" character for giving Ben Barnes a forum to promote his garbage (extreme sarcasm).
ISN'T IT ASTOUNDING AT HOW EASY IT IS FOR A CROOK LIKE BEN BARNES TO GET A FORUM TO PROMOTE HIS LYING POLITICAL AGENDA ON A MAINSTREAM MEDIA STATION? (CBS = SEE BS)
