"...possessing prohibited weapons..."

It is against the law to possess any handgun in the state of massachusetts.

Too much activity around McAllen though. There are the 3 so so, small airports Mc, Harl, BV). Soft targets? Our security here tight though. The BP also on site.

Ever since this problem in Russia, I've been reflecting about our schools. I even went and talked to the principal about the security procedures and what the plan was in a threatening situation, at my little grandsons school yesterday. I would think they wouldn't try anything locally around here though because the kids (not to mention moms and dads) probably armed better than they would be.

That will reveal all.

As he was a member of a cell, they all are, it will probably reveal nothing.

"All the way from Boston's a long way for an Arab or Iranian to travel just to swipe guns and a bulletproof vest. Sounds like he had a pretty specific deed in mind to put all this stuff on his shopping list."

Yup. This caught my eye:

"Sources close to NEWSCHANNEL 5 say Forghan was carrying $3000 when he was busted in addition to a laptop computer, and a receipt from a store where he had purchased leg chains and handcuffs.

Was he going to kidnap someone? Who?

I don't think you're catching my drift so I'll be a little more blunt at the risk of seeming racist.

We have too many Texas border towns where the population has not assimiliated into the American culture. They brought theirs from Mexico.
They owe allegiance to Mexico, not the US.
That culture leans heavily on the macho men who deal drugs and make the big bucks.
They don't give a doodly damn about a terrorist attack in Houston or LA. They just want to make money.
That they are pawns in the terrorist game is irrelevant.
They plan to retire in Mexico at the age of thirty five anyway.

The sad part of all of this is that these actions are applauded and admired by most of the population, and no American will ever be privy to the information necessary to stop it.

Rio Grande. It's just going to be ugly taking it back. Pay now or pay later.

I hear what you are saying and don't mean to be dense but how are you tieing this in with an Iranian from Mass.?

In most parts of Texas, or the US, a license plate from a state 2000 miles to the north would be conspicuous.
With the number of snow birds that flock to South Texas, even in the summertime, it's commonplace, and no one pays any attention.
The setting is perfect to establish networks all across the US using the border towns as the jumping off point from Mexico.

This man wasn't acting alone. He's part of a network.
I have no idea what the intentions were, but you can bet he has ties to his home base in Massachusetts.

No, I am not.

Then you are part of the problem unless I have missed something. If you are a muslim terrorist and think this is cool say so.

I've lived in Victoria twice.

If I had to live in a city, I'd pick Victoria over any place I've ever lived.

They brought the kid down from Boston, so they didn't activate him up there (probably due to our security).

They gave him $3,000 to $5,000 and his new mission was a shopping trip. They told him that they wanted a computer, a bulletproof vest, handguns, ammo, and handcuffs.

They sent him to get those things near our border with Mexico.

That means that either the cell is *in* Mexico right now, or else the operation is planned for near the border...or perhaps both.

If Al Qaeda gets smart, they'll hit soft targets *in* Mexico. Our natural gas pipelines that originate in Mexico and go North to feed U.S. cities are particularly vulnerable...but handcuffs and leg-irons don't indicate sabotage. They do indicate something more along the lines of an Iraqi-esque kidnapping/ransom/extortion operation, though...possibly even hitting a large Catholic church in Mexico. Keep in mind that they are at war against the entire West, and that they *want* to turn this into a global religious war (say, by hitting the Vatican in Italy or some other prominent clergy target).
