Did Reagan support the ban? Did Ford and George HW Bush?
Ford signed a letter for it, and so did bush the first. (Bush also signed the 89 import ban, which is one of the reasons he was a one termer).
IIRC reagan signed, but it was as a favor to brady, and very soon before it was revealed he was suffering from alzheimer's.
