The reason why the Libertarians have moved so rapidly into irrelevance is that they really just don't understand the war - how it started, or why it's being fought. Like the Left, they simply cannot comprehend the idea that our foes wish to slay us because we refuse to adopt their religion.
Add to that a healthy dose of good old-fashioned nuttiness (Badnarik's website used to have links to goofy "secret Constitutional amendment" pages), and you have a recipe for instantly becoming ten years behind the times.
I've met this guy and spent some time listening to him. IMHO, "goofy" doesn't even begin to describe him. He's a total nutcase!
