The Animal Shelter will always take your animals in, where if they cannot be adopted they will euthanize them in a quick and painless way which a head wound is NOT always.

Also, there is always the Wal-Mart parking lot option - a litter in a cardboard box with a FREE PUPPIES sign will at least give them a shot at a good home.

Somehow I don't think Walmart will take too kindly to your suggestion.

However most newspapers will run giveaway ads for free. Seems odd he couldn't find a home for the puppies.

First, let it be understood: I'm not a dog lover!

Second, I have no desire to be cruel to them just because I don't like the damned things.

Third, the animal shelter (at least the one here in Portland) requires that you pay money to drop off puppies, kittens or any other animal. In today's economy, not everyone has extra money laying around.

It may come as a great surprise to some on this board, but a gunshot to the head is less painful than the so-called "humanitarian euthanasia" practiced by many animal shelters. If you take a dog to the local shelter and pay them money, they'll give the animal a shot to make it die. If they have a surplus of such animals and no one is keeping tabs on them, they (many of them) save money by placing the animal in a tank and evacuating all the air, letting the animal suffocate. A sad by-product of this process shows up when they kill a pregnant animal. She expells the babies, regardless of how long she has been pregnant.

And don't tell me I'm mistaken-- I've watched the process.

I my self would rather the vet kill the puppies than do it my self. And as far as the most humane way to "get rid" of the puppys would be to put a bullet in there brain. (If it was for sure that they were going to be put down) The way the vet puts the puppy, animal etc... down is with a shot that makes it impossible for them to move, (gives the apparence that the animal is dead) stops there breathing, and there heart. The poor animal lays there immoble for minutes before it dies. If it has to be done, a bullet to the head, to me is the most humane. : ) <<< me

You MUST be kidding!

The local inhumane societies kill animals by putting them in a vacuum chamber, then pumping out the air.
It's a slow and gruesome death.

Twinkie, the man owned those dogs.

He has the Right to give them away, to sell them, or even to kill them, for whatever reason seems good to him.
