ANG Docs are Fake
Hank All-American | September 9, 2004 | Hank All-American

Posted on 09/09/2004 12:16:21 PM PDT by Hank All-American

Okay, guys and gals. As a former Air Force officer and special agent for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI), I have reviewed the documents released by CBS and can say with a high degree of confidence they are fake.

1--the month in a military date is always three letters. August is spelled out.

2--no one issues an "order" through a "memo." Maybe a letter, but nothing as informal as a "memo."

3--the signature (initials) of Lt. Col. Killian is clearly a cut-and-paste job. The last letter ("K") is cut off at the top, where two lines start to curve toward each other in a loop. Impossible to to do by hand. This signature was cut from another document and pasted or taped on the document.

4--No letterhead. Do you really think commanders typed out a the squadron on every letter? No. Letterhead was used.

5--No way there were superscripts back then. No way. Even if it was theoretically possible (which it wasn't), the national guard isn't exactly an early-adopter of technology. This ability wasn't even available at any price for several years.

Conclusion. I think they're fake. As a lawyer, I can also tell you this kind of thing is far more common than people think.

If this is any indication of how low the media will go to slime Bush, then we can expect a very eventful October.

Could this be a good case for libel or something more serious for President Bush? I hope so. Wasn't the guy who came up with this mess convicted of some crimes? I'm sure he would know how to find a forgerer.

Drudge has already come out with a CNS report siting experts who think the thing was written on a post '72 word processor.

Think it was the use of "wing-dings" that really clued them in. ;>

Bingo ! NO correspondence in the military is official unless it is on letterhead.

These silly attacks are not hurting Bush. But they will accomplish one thing, that is making people sick about hearing attacks about military records. And that's what this is all about, using Bogus attacks on Bush so people don't want to hear legitimate attacks on Kerry.

I think a lot of us retired folks, who were in in the 70s know better. There weren't any computers back then. We used (in 1976) old typewriters, and the first shop I was in had two. One was a selectric, the other was an older electromechanical affair that didn't work well. The other shops next door had various types. NONE of them were "printers" like we're used to using today, and none of them had the same type of font (except the IBM Selectrics).

Agree as to all EXCEPT absence of letterhead. Used to be carbon copies were real carbons and were sometimes on plain white paper...but then, they usually weren't manually signed.

The 'letterhead' could have been done by the base print shop, but the date is in exactly the same font and spacing. Weird.

Looking back through some old military documents (USAF, USAF Reserves, Army & Army Reserves), I see an interesting evolution in the fonts and date formats.

Alleged letter from W's TANG commander

List of test results from USAF basic training

Proficiency report from USAF

Student rating, Army reserves

Misc. letter, Army reserves.

The TANG letter looks like some of the documents I received in the late 70s, early 1980s. Probably done on an IBM Selectric model from that time period, which didn't have an 'th' character, as I recall.

>>>Can anyone tell me what a proportional spaced font is?<<<<

Yep. "W" is wider than "i". "M" is wider than "j". Proportional spacing takes into account the space a letter takes and varies the space to the next letter accordingly so that a word doesn't look "jerky" with too much white space between letters - or have letters smashed together.

My dad was an Arkansas Nat. Guard Admin Tech. I never saw him write a date, even in his private life, in any other way than three letter month.

proportional- small letters like i,l use less space than large letters like m,

non proportional- all letters use the same line space.

I believe that in proportional spaced fonts each letter is centered in a square of space so that on either side there is the same distance between letters. With typewriters, it was often the case where some letters were closer to the edges of a key than others on a given machine...thus spacing appeared out of proportion depending upon which letters were side by side. This is also why in old detective movies/books you'll hear of matching a letter to the typewriter. Each key is manufactured with miniscule differences from one typewriter to another. With word processors/printers this was eliminated through programming.

Also check out the two different '3's in the 'AFM 35-13' portion of the document. One 3 is obviously different than the other. If it were typed, or even done on with a computer; Why would one 3 be diffent than the other?

Can anyone tell me what a proportional spaced font is?

The next time you post anything on FR, look at the "Your Reply" window, which you type in and the "If you posted your comment as-is, it would look like" preview window. The window you type in is evenly spaced. The preview window uses proportional fonts.

Try typing iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.

See how long that string looks like in the typing window and how short it is in the preview window? Pretty cool, huh?

The dead givaway that something is in even spaced fonts is the "i", the "j" and the "m". The narrow letters have these big, honkin' serifs whose only job is to take up space. The "m", OTOH, is so bunched up it is hard to read.

Reading this reminds me of the tactics used by the Communists to distort reality and present lies as truth. Somehow, given the morally bankrupt state of many in the Democratic party this comes as no surprise anymore.

They should prosecute these bastards and give them some JAIL TIME to think twice before trying to do this kind of political assassinations ever again. Time of America to stand up and expose these LIARS and DECEIVERS for the scum they truly are.

DESPICABLE!!!
