The sword-faller will turn out to be some young guy in a 527 whom no one ever heard of. His name will be said one time in public and forever after he will be *a young staffer*.

It was someone who knows no history. Someone who never thought about whether or not typewriters made the same marks as word processors and printers (even the impression on the paper is visibly different) because they had never seen a typewriter or used one. Someone who never realized that executive officers probably did not type. Someone who has never seen the format of dictation/typist at the bottom of a page.Among many other mistakes showing they knew nothing about the military.

IMO, one of the Clintonistas put out the word, generically, that anything that could be done to smear W/Cheney was cool and to go for it. No direct orders. A Kool-aide drinker with no thought to any blowback, but with many dreams of praise and promotion, went for it. There will be many levels of plausible deniability and this will fall off the the radar by the next news cycle.

My one positive thought on all this: there are many, many FReepers and bloggers out there who will keep this alive. Jokes, references, links will not go away. No one can scrub the Internet when this is all mirrored and deeplinked everywhere. Real investigative reporters will no longer look for work at the MSM. They will use their own blogs and write their own books and only use the MSM for book-flacking purposes.

Rick Perry on FNC right now, laying out the truth about this and Ben Barnes. Bill Richardson was described as having "made himself unavailable" for *balance* to Gov Perry. Rats deserting this story as we FReep. < g >

Maybe Danny Boy needs another vacation. Like the unexpected vacation he took in 2000. Remember this from August 17, 2000 during the DNC convention ...?

"Timing is everything. Al Gore must stand and deliver here tonight as the Democratic Party's presidential nominee, and now Gore must do so against the backdrop of a potentially damaging, carefully orchestrated story leak about President Clinton. The story is that Republican-backed special prosecutor Robert Ray, Kenneth Starr's successor, has a new grand jury looking into possible criminal charges against the President growing out of Mr. Clinton's sex life."

"You don't have to be a cynic to note that this has all the earmarks of a carefully orchestrated, politically motivated leak,"

In fact, the story about the Clinton grand jury probe was accidentally leaked to an Associated Press reporter by a federal judge appointed by Democratic President Jimmy Carter. But Rather's ignorance of the facts did not restrain his later prime time speculation about the "Republican-backed" prosecutor.

These quotes are from Media Research Center and can be found here.

What the mrc article does not point out is that when the truth became public, Mr. Rather took an extended vacation and never apologized or even acknowledged the "mistake".

What's the frequency Kenneth?

I think it will unfold fairly quickly but the Bush campaign might want this to extend out a couple of weeks to get the most bang out of this and take the wind out of the sail of the Dems and these accusations.

The Dems will be on the defensive again on this one and the Kerry campaign will continue to lose their footing in this race.

The Kerry campaign is one of the worst run campaigns I have ever seen.

Just look at the writers who used this report to scream shrilly that Bush was worse than SKerry. I hope they have to swallow their words and let their readers know that they were influenced by a forgery.

..does anyone have any recipes on, "CROW, HOW TO COOK". :))

Here is latest on Memogate: There is no doubt that memos came from Kerry campaign. Apparently they tried to circulate them to others beyond CBS.

I believe Ted Koppel said as much on Nightline, that they had been given the documents as well, and were unable to authenticate them.
