Simple Solution to Document Claims - ANG Records Repository

Posted on 09/10/2004 12:05:24 PM PDT by Hillary'sMoralVoid

Air National Guard Records are centrally staged, just as the active duty Air Force's are. Within those staging areas are experts in documentation that could definitively determine the authenticity or lack thereof of the CBS documents.

There are literally thousands of documents from that era presently in storage. A physical search would reveal the format, paper size commonly used, the typewriters used, etc, and could establish the defining verdict on the documents.

As a retired AF Officer who served in that era, I can tell you unequivocally that CBS's documents are not authentic, but it would take an independent expert to formally present proof in the case.

I am wondering why CBS hasn't already apologized and retracted the story. If they think it will go away on its own, they are in for a rude awakening. Kerry is not gaining any points from this...

Pentagon already confirmed the documents would not have the P.O. box on them (that is all they were asked, by the way).
CBS is sunk.

I think CBS is starting to lay the ground work for the 'big backout'. I think they are trying to put the blame on someone else. Read their new story on their website.

It would be too easy for CBS to check this. Their goose is cooked (charbroiled) and they know it.

Good speak. I thought the same thing and am glad you started this thread.

There would hundreds of documents from people in his unit at that time. A comparison would be EASY!

THey are trying to minimize the importance of the documents - saying the story was based on many other 'facts' as well -- dodging the issue of THEIR dishonesty, non-credibility and irresponsibility.

Danny Bather is so biased that he cannot bring himself to admit that he was duped with forgeries.

At this point I don't care. I just want them to issue VERY PUBLIC retraction and apology. Let him claimed he was duped. Would you belived though that the DNC is claiming ROVE set them up? Lord these people have no shame.

"Pentagon already confirmed the documents would not have the P.O. box on them"

I don't doubt it, mk, but I think we would all be wise to try to source link these statements from now on. Another poster recently said that the PO Box address want not out of line, "since Bush had used this address before" (or words to that effect). I've been a bit loose in this respect myself and I think the time has come for documenting our own quotes/claims etc more carefully. Just a suggestion...

You are correct. I am also a retired Chief from that era. The definitive proof is the "format" of those documents.
The AF "memorandum" format, which is used in these documents was not adapted until the late 80's. Prior to that was the "Official Air Force Letter" format.

RTAO:
Subj:
TO:

Signature block, left justified.

This is the second component to this forgery, and in my humble opinion, the most important. Unless you were in the Air Force during this period, who would not be aware of how AF correspondence was prepared.

CBS already knows the truth. IF they didn't know the truth before the broadcast, they certainly do now.

In my view, each day that they fail to tell the American public the truth, is another day that they are now, willfully and knowingly, involved in a Criminal Conspiracy (read that, Organized Crime), against our President during a time of War, the American People including those who risk their lives in Military Service. Within the same 60 minute program, they used a man, who by his actions, committed perjury and/or agreed to lie within their story line. This doesn't even pass the smell test!

For me, this entire travesty goes well beyond negligent reporting, reckless disregard for the truth or even politics. It is easy to conclude that CBS has now joined with the enemy in their willful attempts to "take out", harm and discredit to the entire World, the Command and Control of this War, during one of this Nations greatest battles for it's right to continue to exist.

Assuming for the sake of argument, that CBS believed in what they were reporting was the truth, they had an obligation to publicly admit to their mistake immediately after the mistakes were discovered.

To now continue to hide and claim the forged documents to be truthful, removes them from all appearance of being a legitimate media source and arguably places them in the category of Traitors and perhaps even Terrorists.

the CBS claim is that these are not official documents but personal documents written by a man who didn't type and kept in his personal files which his widow & son say he didn't have.

Maybe Danny's daughter is the source of the Documents.
