Whether the professor is telling the truth or not, Bush did join the National Guard. By "actively" avoiding the draft, I mean he took an action that would exempt him.

Not precisely so. The unit that 1LT Bush was assigned to had several pilots assigned to Vietnam in an operation that used F-102s as escorts for B-52 bombers.

According to Lt Col Killian's son, who was interviewed in several places today, he remembered that 1LT Bush requested that assignment but was turned down because it required 500 flight hours, and Bush hadn't reached that number of hours yet.

Sometime thereafter the use of F-102s was discontinued for that role because it was decided they just weren't a suitable aircraft for the role.

When Kerry volunteered for Swift Boats, they were only used for coastal interdiction, and they weren't used on the rivers. It was actually a fairly "safe" job as Vietnam goes. It wasn't until after he started training for them that the missions were changed.

But none of this really matters, does it? President Bush has never ever attempted to make his military service an issue. Kerry has, and Kerry has gotten thumped pretty good about it. Kerry's only reaction is to whine about Bush's service? Cheap. Very, very cheap.

Many people "actively" avoided the draft by going into the Marines or Navy instead of waiting to be drafted into the Army.

Oh, wait... that's what Kerry did, isn't it?

This story sems at odds with that of a fellow pilot who, with Bush, volunteered for Palace Alert - a program where ANG pilots were sent to Vietnam. Is it possible that a young MBA student, who actually had served in the military, was pulling the the chain of his left wing prof who hadn't?

Holy cow. What exactly is the procedure if you actually want to discuss an article?

The procedure is to discuss. Given it your best shot. Judge your opponent and respond in kind if you're so inclined - point for point, insult for insult.

This is real life lite. Politics is a contact sport. Always has been.

In real life you face terrible humiliation, loss of job and friends, etc., etc. Here you just look like an ass for a few moments and tomorrow you can pretend it never happened.

If you're serious about your opinions don't cut and run. This is the best place to test them...and to judge the temperament and intelligence of those who don't agree with you about anything (probably).

You mean the left-wing prof who somehow remembers word-for-word and every facial gesture of a student from over 30 years ago that (at the time) wouldn't have been somebody notable or important or even noticable? What the heck? Was W his only student that year?

Is that the one? :-)

If you were a member of the VRWC, you'd already know that when Bush joined the Tex ANG, it was flying sorties in 'Nam.

But two years later, when he finished two years active duty ANG training, they weren't.

Any pilot is risking his life, since airplane crashes in peacetime are alas common. Bush did not sign up for a "cushy" job. A cushy job is getting out of the draft by claiming you are a student, but then instead of studying, you lead anti war protests in London, like Clinton (who never got his British degree)...

And we should believe this tenured communist because...?

Because he's an paranoid mentally ill idiot. I had this professor, and this lunatic is sinking the value of my MBA every time he opens his mouth.

He's nuts, he's not mentally fit, and he should be getting therapy, not a paycheck.

Yoshi Tsurumi said sayonara troll.

Knowing Prof Tsurumi (he was my former professor this year), he'd be to paranoid to let anyone know he'd have a roll.

This guy is dropping the value of my MBA every single time he opens his mouth.

The guy needs mental help, not an audience.

I told the director of our program as much. The word he used was "excentric".

With all due respect. I know this professor, he was my teacher this year. I got my MBA from Baruch (class of 2004, oh hell yea).

He's delusional, he needs mental help. He's shows every sign of paranoia, and from what he's told me, its clear Bush would never ever have given him any personal info. He harassed Bush because he didn't like his father.

Greatest line on why he didn't fail Bush when he went for his MBA. "I tried, if he hadn't passed his tests and done his homeworks, I would have gotten him".

I'm reasonably sure it's true...and it's a mark against Bush.

Its not. I had this professor this year. He's delusional, and he used to harass Bush on a daily basis because "w" wouldn't renounce his father and didn't want to talk politics in a business class.

If you had a teacher who treated you like crap and harassed you and put down and bashed your family, would you really tell them anything about you of a personal nature?

You automatically assume the professor is telling the truth?

I actually had this professor, and I can tell you, he's delusional, and obsessed. There is no doubt in my mind, he's either lying or he's having delusions.

Baruch shouldn't have let him teach (where he is now), they should have sent him for mental help.

I actually had this professor this year. He's not just a liberal, he's a diehard leftist, and a delusional, irrational, obsessed lunatic. He needs help, instead, because he talks politics, he gets an audience, if a press person spent more then a few minuits talking to him on another topic, it would be clear this guys needs to see a shrink.

You give this prof to much credit. I had him, I am one of his (now former) students. Bush told him nothing, he harassed Bush as a student daily, about politics and wanted a young Bush to essentially renounce his father. This guy is delusional, on the minimum.

He definaly remembers Bush. I had this guy as my professor this year (and that SOB better remember MY NAME), he's delusional and nuts, He Used to harass Bush as a student daily, insult him, and his family. He wanted Bush to essentially renounce his family and become a hard core leftist. Considering this was not a politics class but a business class, Bush did not like or want to discuss politics or put down his father. Bush never told him anything of any kind of personal nature, he didn't even like giving this guy opinions.

This teacher needs help, he's mentally ill and has weird delusions along with obsessions. He told me he tried to fail Bush, but because Bush passed his tests and did his homeword, he was unable to, though, in retrospect, he wishes he had done it anyway (nice guy right).
