WARSAW, Poland - Three Polish soldiers were killed in Iraq (news - web sites) Sunday when they were attacked with grenades and machine-gun fire as they returned to their base from a demining operation, a Polish military spokesman said.

At least three more Poles were injured in the attack, some four miles east of Hillah, said Lt. Col. Artur Domanski, a spokesman for the Polish-led multinational security force in central Iraq.

The deaths raise the number of Polish soldiers killed in Iraq to 13.

There are Polish soldiers in Iraq? That cant be. Mr Kerry never lies and he says we are "going it alone."

God rest their souls, and we honor these dead who gave their lives for freedom and security.

God bless them every one, and all their families too, and every Polish hero that stands with us and stands for Truth.

Prayers go out for these loyal Polish allies. But they have to tighten up. This is war down over there. These men should not have been exposed to such fire.

Keep on trashing Poland and our other allies, Porta-Johnny. That'll go over big with their kin in the battleground states. Lake Erie cities, hello!

Enough with the God Blessing! God helps those who helps themselves - praise the lord and pass the ammunition and get to clearing these viper's nests out once and for all.

This means getting the allied military numbers up to where we can patrol the borders preventing or killing the jihadis trying to enter Iraq and reducing Iraqi enemy strongholds in Iraq proper.

No use pretending. We are going it alone for all intents and purposes. The total number of foreign troops is less than 10 percent the number of American troops. In other words, foreign participation is a drop in the bucket.

I don't think Kerry can do any better, mind you. Nobody can solve the Iraq mess. It is Bosnia squared!

When Poland entered the war on our side I send their Ambassador a personal letter thanking him, his nation, the people of Poland and their troops. His personal response to me is a cherished keepsake.

Show your appreciation to our allies by contacting the Polish Embassy in Washington:

Embassy of the Republic of Poland

2640 16th Street

NW Washington DC 20009

e-mail: polemb.info@earthlink.net

And don't allow the ignorance of a few to denigrate the contributions of our friends.

The Polish people love Americans. When I was in Germany last year, I walked into a Polish stoneware place and the owner started speaking German to me. I smiled and said "English please, American". His whole face lit up and he smiled and told me to wait a minute and he pointed to a customer in the store. When she cashed out and left, he told me that he loves America ( and his neice was there) and he gives all Americans 30% off the already low Polish prices. He told me he marks up everything because the Germans are not nice people and made a face akin to our gag me face. Too funny! I shopped for an hour and he packed everything beautifully, as he knew I was flying back and I walked out of the store with BAGS of stuff for a $100 bucks. Whenever a German walked in, his whole expression changed.
So, God Bless the Polacks...my grandmother was from Poland and they are some of the hardest working people I've ever met. But I didn't even tell the shopkeeper I was Polish...he was just so thrilled to see a happy American face!
They may not have the best military, but they are loyal. There's a lot to be said for that.

13 dead is not a drop in the bucket. Back in Poland there are people mourning. Poland has been a good and loyal ally and we should be grateful for their contribution.

Aside from that, I agree that Iraq is a mess. I have never thought that we should be the world's policemen - just the world's firemen, i.e. go in, hose the place, and leave.

Here follow the lyrics from an old American folk song. It is also about Poland, in a sense, as it is sung: "we're all between perdition and the deep blue sea." The "sky pilot" is an old slang term for a Priest or Chaplain.

ARTIST: Frank Loesser
TITLE: Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition

Down went the gunner, a bullet was his fate
Down went the gunner, and then the gunner's mate
Up jumped the sky pilot, gave the boys a look
And manned the gun himself as he laid aside the Book, shouting

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
And we'll all stay free

Praise the Lord and swing into position
Can't afford to sit around a-wishin'
[or Can't afford to be a politician]
Praise the Lord, we're all between perdition
And the deep blue sea

Yes the sky pilot said it
Ya gotta give him credit
For a sonofagun of a gunner was he, shouting

Praise the Lord, we're on a mighty mission
All aboard, we're not a-goin' fishin'
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
And we'll all stay free
