THE AMC PROJECT: RATED R: REPUBLICANS IN HOLLYWOOD Deserved or not, Hollywood has a left-wing reputation. But could Hollywood be more conservative than we think? This is the question award-winning documentary filmmaker and former Democratic speechwriter Jesse Moss tries to answer in this special AMC Project. He examines recent phenomena, such as Arnold Schwarzenegger's election to California's highest office, Mel Gibson's unapologetically Christian hit The Passion of The Christ, and the debates over "patriotism" spawned by the war in Iraq. Tune in and find out if Hollywood is primed for a right-wing resurgence. Tuesday, September 14 at 10PM ET/PT.
Susan Sarandon, Barbra Streisand and Martin Sheen are just a few of the liberal celebrities whose activism -- for progressive causes and Democratic candidates -- has given Hollywood its left-wing reputation. But could Hollywood be more conservative than we think? And is La-La-Land ripe for a right-wing resurgence? In this special AMC Project, award-winning documentary filmmaker and former Democratic speechwriter Jesse Moss examines Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger's election to California's highest office, Mel Gibson's unapologetically Christian hit "The Passion of The Christ," and the debates over "patriotism" spawned by the war in Iraq.
Has Mel Gibson "come out" as a Republican? I know one would ASSUME he votes GOP, but you never know.
I listened to some of Tammy Bruce's show last night. She noted that there are a number of folks in Hollyweird (she mentioned Morgan Brittany of "Dallas" fame) who keep their coservative views on the down low lest they find themselves blackballed.
Ron Silver, on the other hand, makes no bones about his "conservative Dem" beliefs. Bet that makes for some fun conversations on the set of "West Wing".
There's already a review of this special online:

excerpt:
"Is there such an animal in ferociously Democratic Hollywood? Are there any dodo birds left around? Unicorns? AMC thinks there are some of those Republican animals around (hidden in closets?), and so does documentarian Jesse Moss, who did Democratic activism and now has been commissioned to find these elusive beasts.
"Moss works low budget and hangs around these scenes for his mission, but to little good effect, though he has some chats with such admitted Republicans as Drew Carey (who prefers "libertarian," which is "a conservative who still gets high"), John Milius, Pat Sajak, Patricia Heaton, Vincent Gallo, Ivan Reitman, Lionel Chetwynd and Ben Stein."
>>"libertarian," which is "a conservative who still gets high
I always heard it described as "a Republican who wants to
legalize pot" :)
More than a few conservative musicians out there, and Sean Hannity has had 'em on his show: Charlie Daniels,
Ted Nugent ("Kill It Then Grill It Cookbook"), and I
even thought I heard that the Ramones may be right-
leaning (THOUGH they did "Bonzo Goes to Bitburg"...)
There was a thread here awhile back about "punks
for Bush"
My partner and I are both Republicans working in the business. I can tell you from first-hand conversations with many actors, producers and directors (including famous household names) that there is no love for Kerry, and that many are quite conservative in their beliefs. Unfortunately, the Democrats "own" Hollywood the way that they "own" the Black vote. It is changing, however. And while the most visible lean left (the above-the-line), most film crews break about 60-40 conservative.
...isn't Alice Cooper (the Rocker) "somewhat" conservative/libertarian....he does have a funny commercial, "school's out for summer". :))
Johnny Ramone was a Republican. The original title of the song was "Bonzo Goes To Bitsburg" (written by Joey about President Reagan going to the SS cemetery), but Johnny refused to do it so they changed the title to "My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down."
now you know and knowing is half the battle . . .

Ron Silver is not a "conservative Dem." Instead he is a liberal dem who is a hawk when it comes to islamic jihadists.
I liken the Liberal Hollywood machine to the teachers in our country. Teachers have a reputation of being liberal, and in fact, the NEA most definately is. As most of you know, they have endorsed sKerry.
However, I have several Conservative teachers in my family. My daughter is one of them. She is seeing more and more of her co-workers starting to speak out to each other sharing their Conservative views.
The same may be said of the Hollywood community.
Shows like this however, much like the article in Details magazine that was of the same nature, I fear are witch-hunts. It's been said many times that conservatives in Hollywood fear coming out for fear of being blackballed. It's more reasonable for a leading male actor to come out of the closet then for a republican actor to do it. These articles and this show I fear are little more then veiled attempts to out a few...
I find the list of who is conservative in hollwood, more like who should keep their jobs there.
Let the scourage begin!
