The kids over at DU are actually very subdued. There's not a lot for them to be happy about.

The number one thing is that we'd finally get some conservatives on the Supreme Court.

It's sad that conservatives are now apparently resigned to that. Yep, the only spending tha could and should decrease is the total elimination of programs.

The kook-nut wing of the Democrat won't let go of Vietnam (and all the free love they got on the side) until you pry it away from their cold, dead hands.I know it. The Left loves Vietnam. It was their time of wine and roses (as Rush would say). The malaise, the national self-doubt, the dividedness, and of course the fact that we lost the war. It's no wonder they love it.
Kerry has done us all a favor by raising Vietnam so prominently. When Kerry loses this election, he will be history -- and so will the Vietnam era.
America will have moved on.

Why so pessimistic. Because he caved to the parasite class, to Teddy Kennedy, to the illegal-alien lobby and to political expediency - instead of standing up like a man and saying "Hell No!"
He hasn't even bothered to veto the most egregious spending and liberty-eroding bills to cross his desk.

More gov't.
More gov't spending.
Bigger deficits.
ZERO real conservatism.

I think we could very well see a split in the Democratic Party, with Zell Miller Democrats bolting the party, and creating a new one, leaving the remaining Democratic Party, as essentially a fringe party. Here's another scenario: The Dems split leaving half of the party to team up with the Greenies. Meanwhile the Zell Miller/Reagan Democrats along with organized labor team up with the Rhinos. This leaves the Republican libertarians to battle it out with the Christian Conservatives.

I don't believe the US will ever get back to the way the founders intended unless there is a major Christian revival here. Too many liberals--almost half the nation--who won't change their own minds. We're in spiritual warfare for the soul of America. Only prayer for revival will accomplish anything.

Affordable housing. The market will be bloated because of all the dims drinking Kool Aid meaning more houses than people who need them.

1) The U.N. would be a big loser
----I think a second bush administration would compromise it's position with regard to the u.n.-----
2) Tax cuts would once again be in vogue and permanent.
absent any real tax reform, which includes spending cuts, taxes will be raised.
3) Judges, judges, judges. Conservative judges would be appointed even over the Dem filibusters.
-----I DO agree that the judicial log jam will be broken in the next 4 years, but I don't think it is a forgone conclusion that the majority could be considered conservative.
4) The war on terror would continue, thank goodness.
On this issue, we agree. Which is why I believe what I wrote in #2 above.
5) Would we finally get tort reform, social-security reform, medicare reform, tax reform?
------Tort reform? YES. SS,Medicare reform? No, both will simply continue to expand their percentage of the federal budget. Tax reform? I doubt it. While I believe it is critical to do immediately, there will be little incentive to actually follow through.
Just my cynical opinion.................

"The Dems would start screaming for a re-vote claiming President Bush, with the help of Haliburton, rigged the electronic ballot machines...."
This will happen regardless of how close the election is.
The "vote rigging" charge will be levied at both major parties.

Yep, this election is going to do some work on the national psyche on a very deep level. It'll resolve a lot of old junk. I can't wait!
And of course the effect will be enhanced the wider the margin of victory is. Which is why I'm hoping for a real blowout.

We would be giving the euros the finger and they would realize what morons they are when they say 'we like Americans, it's bush we don't like'.
