Susan Sarandon, Barbra Streisand and Martin Sheen are just a few of the liberal celebrities whose activism -- for progressive causes and Democratic candidates -- has given Hollywood its left-wing reputation. But could Hollywood be more conservative than we think? And is La-La-Land ripe for a right-wing resurgence? In this special AMC Project, award-winning documentary filmmaker and former Democratic speechwriter Jesse Moss examines Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger's election to California's highest office, Mel Gibson's unapologetically Christian hit "The Passion of The Christ," and the debates over "patriotism" spawned by the war in Iraq.
I'm not sure of the reasons for the declinations.
My guess is that it had something to do with the fact that the documentarian is a former Democratic speechwriter.
And the likelihood that the documentary is being used to "out" Republicans in Hollywood as some sort of twisted punishment for their allegiance. There's a reason why Republicans don't speak up and a Democrat trolling for them and trying to get them on camera doesn't exactly inspire them.

In that case, I wouldn't want to be in this film either.
I'm going to give it a look and hope it's done fairly. The first hint of lefty bias will cause me to reach for the remote. I did see a profile of the documentary, and it appeared to be on the up and up. One can hope.
Here in Hollywood, you are just assumed to be a liberal when you work in the film industry.
Everyone here knows you can't argue with a liberal. You think they are all of a sudden going to be open to FACTS!?!
It is your career... You get to deal with enough crazy liberals at family gatherings, message boards, and watching the news... Why bring it to work?
Patricia Heaton of Everybody Loves Raymond is scheduled to be interviewed. She's one outspoken Republican woman who is actively working. She is openly pro-life, and last year, she walked out in the middle of an award's show when the Osbornes started in with their profanity.
A few years ago AMC did a feature on the movie "Halloween" and its director John Carpenter, to coincide with its annual October horror movie marathon.
The interviewer wanted assurances that Carpenter wasn't part of a right-wing Christian agenda to promote "family values".
How in the world could someone associate "family values" to a slasher movie, much less a right-wing agenda, you ask?
Well it seems that all of the "experienced" girls in the film ended up dead, while the virgin lived. Carpenter was asked if he was trying to teach kids the wacky notion that there are risks to sexual activity at that age.
I didn't hear his response, I was in such disbelief of the question.

I don't know how John Carpenter answered that, but I'd have to call the interviewer not only stupid, but lazy and ignorant to boot.
Most horror films today conform to previous older stories and urban legends right down to which characters are preferred as hero's and who's the victim.
I'm not going to get into the whole horror artsy crap, but I know John Carpenter is a true student of the genre (a bit lazy though). It amazes me how obsessed liberals get with politics that it becomes a compulsive tunnel vision that everything they see is tainted by the possiblity somone might have a different view or belief or that somthing is a subliminal attempt to manipulate them.

No. Kate Mulgrew is a die-hard Democrat. In fact she's ticked off quite a few Star Trek fans at recent cons by spending a good amount of time ranting about how bad Bush was and how they HAD to vote for Kerry.
Maybe they suspect the agenda of a former Democratic speech writer turned documentary maker.
It's a common pattern in horror films; so common that horror director David Cronenberg felt obligated to strenuously deny it - all the while using the same theme in his own films. Actually, horror and sci-fi films are often *the* most conservative and moralistic films around.
Then I don't know which star trek character Heaton was referring to.

Somewhere on the Internet there is a Star Trek actors political affiliation website. I have seen and read it.
There are not many "outed" Hollywood republicans or conservatives in LA LA land. There are more in the technical blue collar production ranks [Below The Line] than the stars!
I think it is much safer to keep your political views to the ballotbox in Hollywood presently.
