Holmes fans: Is Hillary more like Irene Adler or Professor Moriarty?
Doyle/Sherlock Holmes Page who's who ^ | Sep. 14, 04 | doyle/churchillbuff

My suspision that Hillary and her minions are sawing the floor from under Kerry -- so she'll be able to run in 08 - recalls a theme that's been running through my mind for years: Hillary is like Irene Adler, the brilliant criminal who matched wits (and sometimes outwitted) Sherlock Holmes -- and also like Holmes' arch-rival, Dr. Moriarty, who had an army of criminals to do his evil bidding. Which character does she MORE resemble? BEWARE 08 I TELL YOU!

IIRC, Holmes said that Irene Adler was the only woman he could ever have loved. She was very intelligent, beautiful, and personable, if a bit nefarious.

Definitely Moriarty....

Dr. Moriarty, of course.

Thought you were talking about John Holmes and that this thread might get real interesting. :)

Holmes would never fall in love with, let alone have sex with someone like Hildabeast.

But then again, she's not as smart or as nice as Moriarty.

It's true that Conan-Doyle made Irene Adler appealing. She was more clearly evil, if I recall, in the Basil Rathbone movies.

It's been blatantly obvious for over a month.

The Democrats would go into orgasm.

Hillary is more like that crud you find at the bottom of the garbage can when you take out the plastic-bag liner.

You don't know how it is or how it got there. You just know it's dirty, and you don't want to touch it.

The best you can do is wash it out, disinfect, and forget about it.

Neither of the above. Irene Adler was an admirable opponent, beautiful, intelligent, and competent; Moriarty was an evil genius and a supreme manipulator.

The only thing Hillary! has going for her is the evil and the manipulation.

Irene Adler was a brilliant free-spirited woman who matched wits with Holmes and won, evoking his undying admiration. Professor Moriarty was an evil criminal genius who was eventually defeated and destroyed by Holmes.

Hillary Clinton is neither brilliant, free-spirited, nor a genius. She is evil and criminal. Her position as US Senator keeps her and Slick Willy out of prison.

Hillary is neither Adler nor Moriarity. She is what the horse left behind after the hansom cab passed.

Kerry hasn't needed any help in chopping out the floor underneath him. He'd doing fine by himself.

Irene, The Lady, was not really a criminal. She merely kept a photograph of a nobleman (King? Prince?) from Bohemia and herself that the nobleman had given her; and she disposed of it when she no longer feared that he would move against her for.

A fitting character would be perhaps the lady in the Second Stain (no Lewinsky jokes please), who steals a secret document from someone who trusts her so she can get out of a bind, leaving him to suffer for it. Or perhaps the antagonist from The Problem of the Thor Bridge, who manages to frame an innocent person for her own suicide. There is also a passing reference to a "winning woman" who "poisoned several children for their insurance money". National health care anyone?
