The time has come for us to take action. Although I am a relative newcomer to Free Republic, I have quickly come to recognize the importance and strength of this great organization.
Yes, Organization. We have a great leader: Jim Robinson. We have a Board of Directors: The Mod's. We have a General Membership: Us.
Our strength is in our numbers, unity, and determination. We talk 24/7 via this great medium, and now the time has come to put this all to good use and flex our Mighty Muscle.
FReepers Unite!
We started this thing and I for one don't take kindly to Dan Rathers casual dismissal of us. So let's put our "money where our mouth is"!
1. BOYCOTT all sponsors of the CBS evening news, and let them know it! (would someone post a list of links to the sponsors on this thread? Thank you.
2. Complain to the FCC, ask for an investigation (need a link here too).
3.Two day protest of CBS: Thursday & Friday, 9/16 & 9/17.
Here's How:
1. Inform the FReepers in your State, and then break it down into cities or CBS broadcast areas. Invite friends and neighbors, local conservative organizations, and other bloggers. Plan to meet at your local CBS affiliate.
2. Prepare signs and designate a spokesperson (got a bullhorn?), GET LOUD!
3. Wear your jammies! Put em on over your long-johns if you have to.
4. Take a day off work. Call a baby-sitter. Drive a long distance if you have to, But Make The Time.
5. Non-protesters: If you can't make the protest in person, jam their faxes and e-mails! Bombard them for two days straight. Overwhelm them for two days straight!!
6. Remember at all times, at all protests, in all faxes and e-mails to exercise proper decorum. NO: foul language, threats (only legal ones), or confrontations. We are afterall, respectable law abiding citizens.
OK? OK? OK?, LET'S GO!

'write a nice letter to the general manager of your local cbs affiliate. explain that you have determined that falsehoods included in cbs network news programs broadcast by the station are not in the public interest.. explain that you believe that this is something that should be taken into consideration when their license comes up for renewal. close the letter by saying that you therefore request that this letter be placed in the station's public file.
these are powerful code words. "not in the public interest" is the grounds for challenging a license. the "public file" is a file of consumer comments which the station by law must maintain. it is provided to and inspected by the f.c.c.

How do we find the Freepers in our area? (I am new too). I live in NJ can make it to CBS in NYC. If anyone knows how to find out the people in each area let us know. Otherwise... I'll figure it out in the morn.

It is time for a revolt against the MSM and CBS in particular. I have pent up frustrations that have been locked up for years and this is a perfect way to express them.
How many times have we felt helpless and maybe have even questioned our own ability to use reason and logic when the facts we know do not jive with the facts they report.
It is TIME we make news and show the MSM that we are not going to stand for their lies anymore!!

I'm calling the FCC tomorrow and a freeper earlier today posted the number of a Congressman who monitors FCC issues.
I need to find that post and call that number as well.
CBS is never on in this house anyway so it's not a hardship to boycott them. But their sponsors should hear from us.
My understanding is that Dan Rather mentioned this matter AGAIN tonight on his television made up news program; this is based on another freeper's report.
If I remember right, go back to your profile area, and somewhere in there you can find a list of FReepers in your State. Anyone help us here?
