Demand a Congressional Hearing!
Hugh Hewitt Program ^ | 9/14/04 | Shenandoah

Posted on 09/14/2004 6:12:56 PM PDT by Shenandoah

I'm listening to the Hugh Hewitt radio show and he just interviewed Congressman Cox of California who raised the very real prospect of a Congressional Hearing concerning "Forgery Gate". Chris Cox stated that, although it is likely there could be a Congressional Hearing, it is unlikely that it would occur until after the election.....unless there is a large outcry from the public demanding such a hearing immediately.

Hugh Hewitt is calling on people to call your Congressman and demand a Congressional Hearing next week. If enough voices are heard, it will happen. He also suggests calling Congressman Joe Barton of Texas, Chairman of the Committee on Energy and Commerce, as well as other members of the Committee.

Go to Hugh's site via the link provided and scroll down just a little ways until you see "Call Congress via its switchboard at 202-225-3121 and ask for any member of this subcommittee with jurisdiction over the broadcast industry. Links and further information are provided on Hugh's site.

Yes! The Senate should investigate Kerry and if he has any connection whatsoever to this fraud then he should be expelled from the Senate. What did Senator Kerry know and when did he know ir?

Hugh Hewitt also mentioned that the people over at Democratic Underground sound like they're ready to commit mass suicide. They're all in a tither that "Forgery Gate" is drawing attention away from Kitty Kelly's book.

Maybe the WH should revoke the press passes of CBS correspondents.

They've already proven that they don't have to actually be there to get the "facts".

If you expel someone who's never there, is he really gone?

Careful. It may be Hillary Clinton reprising the role of Howard Baker...

Congressional hearings = bloviating narcissists giving Dan Rather an audience and sense of importance.

And $10,000,000 later, nothing to show for all the hot air and publicity.

How utterly pathetic......the little DUmmies were banking on the likes of Kitty Kelley to enhance John Kerry's sinking campaign.

Hugh Hewitt writes on his blog that he wants congressional hearings into the forged documents. Chris Cox said that they would likely have hearings but maybe not before the election.

I think this is a TERRIBLE idea. When the enemy is in the midst of destroying himself, do not intervene! The story will become the media as victim and government as censor (even though we know it is not true). The story as reported by the media will be mean GOP Congress seeks to censor critics not memos were forged and Rather has to step down. We should let the media go after CBS and the forgers and then the story will be much more satisfying to us.

I just think this will change the focus of the story and we won't get what we want.

If Rather continues to stonewall and not give up his source and ABC/Washington post don't press the issue to its final conclusion then I think Congress should step in. But I think the media should handle it for now.

Crimes have been committed. The FBI is the one who should be investigating along with the courts prosecuting those responsible.

A congressional hearing will only let they guilty walk.

Yeah, you're right. And now that I think about it, It could also be construed (falsley, of course, although the enemy will try to spin it as such) that George Bush is using the power of the presidency to go after his detractors.

Besides, with all the resources of the media that are jumping on this, there's a great possibility that they, themselves, could expose the source of the fraudulent documents.

Yup. Let the game play itself out and see how long CBS continues with their absurd denials and how far down Blather burns and crashes.

Right now Memogate is hurting CBS and not the President. The second Congress gets involved that will change...big time.

I think we should email Hewitt and Chris Cox and tell them NOT to press this. Hewitt is encouraging everyone to email Congress to persue this. I think we need to explain to them the error of their ways.

I agree...and hopefully the Congressional leadership would be smart enough to figure it out (what am I saying???).

Two things energize the left, how the election was stolen and how "their' President was hounded by the Congressional non-impeachment. This would only energize the left.

Something NEEDS to be done ASAP. As I hear it, the DNC is actually using this BS from CBS in political adds, as in, "Reality be damned, we don't need no stinkin reality here, we have a right to our OWN reality!!!!"
