I am praying my daughter and her 3 children
are able to leave tomorrow on the Delta flight
I have jumped thru hoops to obtain tickets.
Today's Delta flight was cancelled,
no reason given.
She came face to face with looters in her house,
so she gave them ALL her food, but that wasn't
enough for them... they took her whole refridgerator,
and stripped her kitchen of EVERYTHING... utensils,
cooking ware, electric appliances, EVERYTHING.
Onyx what part of GC is your daughter in... I am totally shocked...
I hope she can just stay at the airport until a flight is available. Expect cancellations with no warning or explanation, that is par for the post disaster course. But she has to be at the airport to grab the unexpectedly available seats. The airport will also be safer, since the corporate airline employees will be "authority figures" and the closest to cops she is likely to see. Looters will avoid the airport, which is one of the places likely to have cops. And it will probably have drinking water and some basic food available. A few hard days, then they're out, and you can take them out to fancy restaurants.

It is obvious that the government was not at all prepared for a disaster of Ivan's magnitude. I don't know if I agree with you about what effect this will have on Cayman's future, though. I suspect that Ivan will be a boon to growth since big hotel developers will be able to tout the obvious advantages of upgrading the quality of construction on 7 mile beach.
So sorry to hear about your daughter Onyx. I hope that she is able to get out.
Have been watching the news here and hearing of what happened in the panhandle of Florida and Alabama. Horrible. The are also showing what happened with Charlie and Frances.
Flashbacks to Hugo - another two coming - stressed out totally - a lot of people who were here for Hugo are stressed out also. Jeanne will be here on the 15th anniversary of Hugo.
