Its a double edged sward - makes it easier for terrorists to get get the weapons too.
Not that I have a lack of imagination, but I don't see terrorist here using assualt weapons. I wouldn't do there cause alot of good, and wouldn't create their desired level of destruction. That is why they strive for more powerful type of bombs.
One terrorist with an assualt rifle will probally get a few people before he his taken down, or has to flee the scene. A terrorist with a bomb can do more damage racking up a larger body count and doing damage to the ecomony.
I guess my point is that most terrorist already have access to these types of weapons, and no law even written will stop that. Laws and police actions are only good as a deterriant to crime. If someone is going to do a crime, then they have no reguard for the law.

If it comes down to a scenario where terrorists are seeking to obtain rifles here in America to kill us, would you rather have your fellow Americans disarmed already? When 20 simultaneous strikes are happening in your city, do you really think anyone will respond to your 9/11 call when the 21st one happens in your neighborhood?
Even if there's just one terrorist strike in your city, don't you think other criminals will take advantage of the situation to loot, rob, and rape innocents while law enforcement is too busy to stop them?
With the darkness that could descend on America after an NBC terrorist strike (nuclear, biological, or chemical), you would ache for 500 rounds and one of those ugly rifles Dianne Feinstein thinks you shouldn't be able to own. It might be the only thing that saves the food and supplies you have left in your house.
It might save your family's life and the lives of your next door neighbors. One sighting of an ugly muzzle would drive away 90% of the threats your family might face after a massive terrorist strike.
But there are those in our government, and lobbyists in Washington who don't care about your family. They don't care about your neighbors. They don't care about your sacred right to self-defense. They don't care about the highest laws of our land that say you can prepare for your own defense unimpeded by government intrusion.
They only care about the attention it gets their candidates and the security it buys the government to know that its citizens are disarmed. That is a false security for everyone involved, LM!
