LANSING, Mich. (AP) A state representative from Marquette received a citation this week for drunken driving in East Lansing, according to a police report.
Rep. Stephen Adamini, 59, was cited Tuesday night after his Ford Explorer hit two cars stopped in East Lansing, the police report said. He had a blood-alcohol level of .15, above the legal limit of .08, and was cited for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
In a written statement, Adamini said he "stopped for some drinks with friends" before the accident.
"I had been drinking and I must accept the responsibility for, and the consequences of, that action," he said. "I now fully understand the consequences of that and I intend to do everything in my power to prevent this from occurring in the future."
People in the vehicles struck by Adamini's Explorer weren't seriously injured, the police report said.
Adamini, a Democrat, did not return repeated calls seeking comment Thursday afternoon.
On a more serious note, luckily no one was hurt.
This seems to be a tradition with the UP reps. I think at least one or two of the past reps from that area had the same run problem with drinking and driving.
With all due respect, this is not a partisan issue. We have our share of DUIs on our side as well.
You Michiganers are amateurs. Our Attorney General here in Wisconsin can drink your state reps the table AND get away with it!
should be "under" the table...
SOP, and SBAC, here in the U.P. My own BAC is probably higher here on a Thursday night, but I'm at home with almost no intention to start up the 4 x 4. Not too smart to do it in Lansing. Regards from the UP, Mi Amigo.
The roads down there are too damn wide. And too full of cops. And those are the good points.
Yup. Heard about that. What was the woman's name?
At least we don't name our handle after a cheap Wal-Mart shotgun:)
Glad this fool didn't hurt anybody.
Ever been to the UP?
My parents live there.
If you're not shootin' or snowmobiling, you're drinkin'.
Uh-hem. I live in the U.P. You are painting with too broad of a brush, my friend.
Where does the sex fit in?
