I thought they normally inserted when the speech received applause from the audience. It looks like they did that for this speech. HAHAHAHAHA
On CSpan, the Kerry speech vs the Bush speech was night and day.
The group was completely enthusiastic for Bush.
A scattering of applause when he said something good... but John Kerry is a study when it comes to trying to say the right things for every audience.
Now that I think of it, there was hardly any applause... he's probably chewing out an aide or two for not getting the speech right.
Sean Hannity played an excerpt of Kerry getting introduced ("John Kennedy--er, Kerry") and he was met with tepid
applause at best. Then Hannity said Kerry went about 4 minutes without applause despite supposedly giving lines
that should get cheers and applause, etc.
where are his two stupid jokes at the beginning of the speach?
They really sucked!
Just for info on who was secretary of the navy
http://www.campusprogram.com/reference/en/wikipedia/u/un/united_states_secretary_of_the_navy.html
John Lehman February 5, 1981 - April 10, 1987
As if this speech is something to be proud of?????!
Kerry went over like a lead balloon with this crowd. They don't want to hear his message - period.
Yeah, but remember - John Kerry believes that he is the right man for the job, and that all he has to do is phrase the message right in order to get through to the stupid masses.
I guess that's the part that confuses him the most... Americans just aren't as stupid as he believes. At least half of us aren't.
I believe Lehman was the youngest Seretary of the Navy when Reagan appointed him. I have no idea why it would take until the '80's for whatever Kerry had him sign.
Lehman was a GREAT Secretary of the Navy though. Doubled the fleet. Helped win the cold war.
Now that you mention that - he made a statement about the President "Gilding" over things - said it twice in a row and I have read this twice and I just don't see that line in here!
What's up with that!
Oh, and who says gilding anyway - I don't even have anything Gilded! No gold leaf either!
Did anyone else hear that?
DKK
Yep, he sure did. I remember that part 'cause that's when his hands started doing a little flappy dance and he had this look in his eye like "What the hell am I talking about?"
Okay, I knew I wasn't crazy - and your right - that is exactly what he did!
Who says that, gilding?
DKK
He's probably chewing out the aides for not clapping harder!
It jarred me too. All I could think of was the old expression, "gilding the lily" (i.e., dressing up something that was perfect without it), but that wouldn't fit what he was saying. No doubt why he stumbled a couple of times spitting it out.

For his next speech they will add pauses so that the scraping sound of people getting up from their chairs and walking out won't drown out the speaker.
One who will be part of the IraqVeternsAgainstWar and speak before a Congressial 'investigative' commitee looking into IraQ 'atrocities'; telling how he and his mates degraded helpless Muslim's?
Will HE also write a 'book' about HIS experiences that will become sought out on the WEB?
Will HE want to run for POTUS in 2044?
