Conspiracy theories are for paranoids right? I'm still looking for an explanation that doesn't involve some type of conspiracy. I don't want to believe CBS has become what it appears they have. They're making it hard not to.

Looks to me like Dan was just trying too hard to get the scoop story that brings down the President. He wanted it to be true, that's what makes the conspiracy work. A willing dupe.
